JOINT RESOLUTIONS

Carroll's sacred trust; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the Maryland Bicentennial Commission
be requested to
(a) Develop a selected bibliography on Charles
Carroll of Carrollton and other Maryland signers of the
Declaration of Independence in cooperation with the
Maryland Historical Society, State and local library
systems, the Enoch Pratt Library, The Baltimore Museum of
Art, private educational associations, and the State
Board of Education.
(b) Determine the ability of the public library
system to provide Carroll research material to students,
and the ability of government and private organizations
to assist.
(c) Outline avenues of publicity to inform
students and the general public of the contest, and its
significance to the contest, and its significance to the
Maryland Bicentennial celebrations.
(d) Supervise preparation of a collection of
suitable prize essays on Carroll, perhaps entitled
"Remember Carroll's Sacred Trust".
(e) Prepare an account of Carroll's contributions
as a legislator in the Maryland Senate, as a delegate to
the Continental Congress, member of the Board of War and
as first elected Senator from Maryland under the
Constitution.
(f) Finance local essay contests, providing
adequate source material through the library system, the
winning essays to be included in the collection entitled
"Remember Carroll's Sacred Trust".
(g) Draw up necessary rules covering student
eligibility.
(h) As near to July 1, 1976 as possible, select a
grand prize essay from local prize essays contributed
from the counties of Maryland and Baltimore City; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution be sent to
the Maryland Bicentennial Commission, the Maryland
Historical Society, the Baltimore Museum of Art and the
State Board of Education.
