Blind Industries and Services of Maryland —
Board of Directors
FOR the purpose of providing for appointment by the
Governor of all members of the Board of Blind
Industries and Services of Maryland, by and with
advice and consent of the Senate of Maryland; and
making certain stylistic changes.
BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,
Article 30 - Deaf, Mute or Blind
Section 5
Annotated Code of Maryland
(1971 Replacement Volume and 1975 Supplement)
SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 5 of Article 30 - Deaf, Mute or
Blind, of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1971
Replacement Volume and 1975 Supplement) be and it is
hereby repealed and reenacted, with amendments, to read
as follows;
Article 30 - Deaf, Mute or Blind

General supervision and control of all such training
and employment centers shall be vested in a board of
eleven trustees, [nine] ALL of whom shall be appointed by
the Governor, by and with the advice AND CONSENT of the
Senate[, and two shall be elected by the board of
directors of the Maryland School for the Blind; and the].
THE term of the members of [said] THE board shall be for
a period of two years from the date of their appointment,
or until their successors shall have been appointed and
qualified[ , and whenever]. WHENEVER a vacancy shall
occur on [said] THE board it shall be filled for the
unexpired term by [vote of the said members of the board
remaining] THE GOVERNOR, WITH THE ADVICE AND CONSENT OF
THE SENATE. The board, which shall serve without
compensation, shall make timely recommendations to the
Governor concerning appointments. Members shall be
reimbursed for expenses incurred while actually engaged
in the performance of their duties, in accordance with
standard travel regulations.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1976.
