of any member is a legal holiday, the term shall begin on
the first day thereafter which is not a legal holiday.
Vacancies on the board at any time shall be filled by the
Governor for the unexpired term. The members of the
board from time to time shall elect one of their number
as [chairman] PRESIDENT of the board AND ONE AS VICE
PRESIDENT. Except as in this section provided, the other
provisions of this article apply to the Board of
Education of Allegany County.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That Sections
36D(f) and 37(e) (3) of Article 77 - Public Education, of
the Annotated Code of Maryland (1975 Replacement Volume
and 1975 Supplement) be and they are hereby repealed.

SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That new
Sections 36D(f) and 37(a)(4) be and they are hereby added
to Article 77 — Public Education, of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1975 Replacement Volume and 1975 Supplement)
to read as follows:

Article 77 - Public Education

36D.

(F) COMPENSATION FOR ALL BOARD MEMBERS IS PROVIDED
FOR IN THE ALLEGANY COUNTY BUDGET AND SHALL BE PAID IN 12
EQUAL MONTHLY INSTALLMENTS. THE ANNUAL COMPENSATION FOR
EACH BOARD MEMBER SHALL BE AT LEAST $1,800. AFTER
SUBMITTING VOUCHERS, THE MEMBERS SHALL BE REIMBURSED FOR
TRAVEL AND OTHER EXPENSES INCURRED IN THE PERFORMANCE OF
THEIR DUTIES.

(a) (4) IN ALLEGANY COUNTY THE ANNUAL MEETING
SHALL BE HELD ON THE SECOND TUESDAY OF JANUARY.

SECTION 4. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That Sections
37(e) (4) through (13), respectively, of Article 77 —
Public Education, of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1975
Replacement Volume and 1975 Supplement) be and they are
hereby renumbered to be Sections 37(e)(3) through (12),
respectively.

SECTION 5. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1976.
