SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1976.

AN ACT concerning

Fish and Fisheries — Surf Clams

FOR the purpose of providing for the licensing of certain
persons engaged in the harvesting and landing of
surf clams; and authorizing the Department of
Natural Resources to promulgate certain regulations
concerning surf clams, to be effective only until a
certain date.

Section 4-904 and 4-905
Annotated Code of Maryland
(1974 Volume and 1975 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That new Sections 4-904 and 4-905 be and they
are hereby added to Article — Natural Resources, of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1974 Volume and 1975
Supplement) to read as follows:

4-904.

A PERSON IN CHARGE OF ANY BOAT OR VESSEL RIGGED FOR

CATCHING SURF CLAMS SHALL OBTAIN A LICENSE     FROM THE

DEPARTMENT BEFORE HE CATCHES ANY SURF CLAMS IN   THE WATERS
OF THE STATE. THE LICENSE IS VALID FOR THE YEAR IN WHICH

IT IS ISSUED. THE FEE TO ISSUE AND RENEW THE   LICENSE IS

$5. A NONRESIDENT OF THE STATE MAY NOT OBTAIN   A LICENSE
TO CATCH SURF CLAMS.
