AN ACT concerning

Motor Vehicles — Special Registration Plates

FOR the purpose of [[providing that disabled American
Veterans who have certain physical disabilities may
be granted special registration plates with the
letters DAV and with the official international
wheelchair symbol or certain other symbols;
providing for the application for, the use of,
certain parking privileges attached to, and certain
crimes connected with, the plates; and setting a fee

for the plates]] permitting certain disabled

veterans to elect to receive a special registration
plate with the international wheelchair symbol
instead of certain other special registration

plates; and requiring the Motor Vehicle

Administration to issue those plates.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Article 66 1/2 - Vehicle Laws
Section [[ 3-605(b)]] 3-829(a)
Annotated Code of Maryland
(1970 Replacement Volume and 1975 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section [[3-605(b)]] 3-8 29 (a) of Article
66 1/2 — Vehicle Laws, of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1970 Replacement Volume and 1975 Supplement) be and it
is hereby repealed and reenacted, with amendments, to
read as follows:

Article 66 1/2 - Vehicle Laws

[[3-605.

(b) (1) Upon application to the Commissioner by
the owner of any registered passenger motor vehicle,
beginning with the 1968-1969 registration year and
accompanied with due proof that the owner is a bona fide
member of the Department of Maryland Disabled American
Veterans of the United States, and also upon
certification to the Department of Motor Vehicles by the
department commander of the Disabled American Veterans,
State of Maryland, in office at the time of the
application that clearance has been made through his
office and the request is not in excess of the number of
tags which the Commissioner may determine can be
manufactured in conformity with the combinations
permissible under this article, and upon payment of all
fees required by this article, the Department of Motor
Vehicles shall issue for the passenger motor vehicle
special registration plates upon which shall be inscribed
letters and numerals not less than three inches high and
in strokes of not less than one—quarter inch in width the
