Article 66 1/2 — Vehicle Laws
Section 2-320(a)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 2-320(a) of Article 66 1/2 -
Vehicle Laws, of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1970
Replacement Volume and 1975 Supplement) be and it is
hereby repealed and reenacted, with amendments, to read
as follows:
Article 66 1/2 - Vehicle Laws
2-320.
(a) Except as specifically otherwise provided by
law, all moneys received pursuant to the provisions of
this article shall be accounted for and remitted to the
Comptroller, who after first paying, or retaining a
sufficient amount thereof to pay, all refunds of taxes or
fees provided for in this article, the salaries and
expenses of the Department of Maryland State Police and
the State Police Retirement System of the State of
Maryland not charged to the general funds of the State
under the provisions of subsection (b) [hereof and] OF
THIS SECTION, the cost of paying the principal of and
interest on bonds authorized by the General Assembly
prior to July 1, 1971 to be issued to pay the cost of
capital improvements for the [[Department of Motor
Vehicles of Maryland]] MOTOR VEHICLE ADMINISTRATION, THE
SALARIES AND OTHER EXPENSES OF THE STATE HIGHWAY
ADMINISTRATION IN ENFORCING THE PROVISIONS OF THIS
ARTICLE THAT LIMIT WEIGHT, HEIGHT, WIDTH AND LENGTH OF
MOTOR VEHICLES, AND, NOTWITHSTANDING SUBSECTION (B) OF
THIS SECTION, THE SALARIES AND EXPENSES OF THE TRUCK
WEIGHT ENFORCEMENT DIVISION OF THE MARYLAND STATE POLICE
IN ENFORCING THESE PROVISIONS, THE PROVISIONS OF ARTICLE
81 THAT RELATE TO ROAD TAXES ON MOTOR CARRIERS, AND THE
PROVISIONS OF ARTICLES 27 AND 56 THAT RELATE TO MOTOR
FUEL FRAUD AND FUEL TAX FRAUD, shall credit the balance
to the gasoline and motor vehicle revenue account of the
Transportation Trust Fund established under Article 94A.
[Costs,] NOTWITHSTANDING ANY OTHER LAW, COSTS, fines,
penalties and forfeitures received by or paid to the
District Court with respect to traffic matters shall be
collected and remitted to the State pursuant to the
provisions of Article 26, §§ 151 and 155, and shall
become part of the general funds of the State[, any law
to the contrary notwithstanding].
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1976.
