Article 43 - Health

35.

(a) (1) The State [Board] DEPARTMENT of Health
and Mental Hygiene, to the extent that funds and
facilities are available, shall conduct inquiries into
the nature, source and vehicles of infectious diseases,
and into the nature and character of sewage, trades
wastes, and into nuisances. It shall examine and
analyze [free of cost,] free of cost, public and private
water supplies, milk and such other foods, drinks,
confectionery, drugs, spices and condiments as the [Board
shall direct; it] SECRETARY OF HEALTH AND MENTAL HYGIENE
DIRECTS. (2) THE DEPARTMENT shall establish and maintain
a properly equipped public health laboratory to perform
these and related functions[, and the]. THE services of
[said] THE laboratory shall be free to all local boards
of health and to all practicing physicians of the State
for inquiries concerning infectious and contagious
diseases and such other matters as the [said Board may]
SECRETARY DIRECTS from time to time [direct]. THE
SECRETARY MAY SET FEES FOR OTHER LABORATORY SERVICES.
DEVELOPMENT, PAYMENT, AND COLLECTION OF FEES SHALL BE IN
ACCORDANCE WITH §601 OF THIS ARTICLE.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1976.

AN ACT concerning

Physical Therapy

FOR the purpose of including the prevention of
disabilities within the meaning of physical therapy;
allowing a physical therapist assistant to work
under the direction of more than one physical
therapist; clarifying the authority of the State
Board of Physical Therapy Examiners with respect to
its personnel, including an executive officer;
specifying the clinical training requirements for
licensure as a physical therapist and physical
therapist assistant; clarifying procedures for
issuance of temporary licenses; providing for
reinstatement of certain lapsed licenses;
renumbering certain provisions for clarity and
