AN ACT concerning

[[School Holidays]] Schools — Appropriate Exercises

FOR the purpose of providing for certain public school
[[holidays]] exercises on certain days.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Article 77 - Public Education

Section 76[[ (a) and]] (b)

Annotated Code of Maryland

(1975 Replacement Volume and 1975 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Sections 76[[(a) and]] (b) of Article 77 -
Public Education, of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1975
Replacement Volume and 1975 Supplement) be and they are
hereby repealed and reenacted, with amendments, to read
as follows:

Article 77 — Public Education

76.

[[(a) The following days shall be school holidays:
Thanksgiving Day, and the day after; from Christmas Eve
through the first day of January, inclusive; from the
Friday before Easter through the Monday after Easter,
inclusive; Memorial Day; COLUMBUS DAY; VETERANS' DAY;
primary and general election days.]]

(b) Schools shall devote a portion of the day to
appropriate exercises [[on]] FOR the following days:
Washington's Birthday, LINCOLN'S BIRTHDAY, [Veterans'
Day,] VETERANS' DAY, COLUMBUS DAY. MARTIN LUTHER KING
DAY, Arbor Day, and other days of national significance.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1976.
