AN ACT concerning
Petitions for Referendum
[[FOR the purpose of clarifying the law pertaining to
requirements for petitions for a referendum by
providing that the signatures appear on separate
papers; that the papers be of a certain size;
requiring an affidavit; providing procedures for
filing the petition; generally relating to
referendum petitions; providing for a certain time
for certification and filing of constitutional
amendments and for filing certain questions arising
under Article XIA of the Constitution of Maryland;
transferring petition duties from the Secretary of
State to the State Administrative Board of Election
Laws; clarifying language; and making the effect of
this Act subject to a certain contingency.]]
FOR the purpose of changing the date for certifying
constitutional and other questions to local election
boards; changing the date for filing questions
arising under Article XIA of the Constitution;
requiring the Secretary of State to prescribe forms
for referendum petitions; prescribing certain
requirements for referendum petitions; providing for
the filing of such petitions with the Secretary of
State; and making the effect of this Act subject to
a certain contingency.
BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,
Article 33 — Election Code
Section 23-1 (a) and (b), and 23-3[[,23-5 (a) and (c),
23-6(a) and (b), 23-7, and 23-10]]

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Sections 23-1 (a) and (b), and 23-3[[,
23-5(a) and (c), 23-6 (a) and (b), 23-7, and 23-10]] of
Article 33 - Election Code, of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1971 Replacement Volume and 1975 Supplement) be
