In subsection (a) of this section, the term

"charge conference" is substituted for

"quarterly conference" to conform to the
current nomenclature of the Church.

5-325. BYLAWS.

THE BYLAWS OF A RELIGIOUS CORPORATION SUBJECT TO
THIS PART:

(1)   SHALL INCLUDE, BY REFERENCE OR OTHERWISE,
THE DISCIPLINE OF THE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH AS FROM
TIME TO TIME AUTHORIZED AND DECLARED BY THE GENERAL
CONFERENCE OF THAT CHURCH; AND

(2)    MAY NOT BE INCONSISTENT WITH THAT
DISCIPLINE.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section presently appears as
Art. 23, § 313(d).

The phrase "by reference or otherwise" is
added for clarity and to conform to the
current practice of incorporating the lengthy
Discipline into bylaws by reference.

The only other changes are in style.

5-326. HOLDING OF PROPERTY.

ALL ASSETS OWNED BY ANY METHODIST CHURCH, INCLUDING
ANY FORMER METHODIST EPISCOPAL CHURCH, METHODIST
PROTESTANT CHURCH, METHODIST EPISCOPAL CHURCH, SOUTH, THE
WASHINGTON METHODIST CONFERENCE, OR EVANGELICAL UNITED
BRETHREN CHURCH, WHETHER INCORPORATED, UNINCORPORATED, OR
ABANDONED:

(1)   SHALL BE HELD BY THE TRUSTEES OF THE
CHURCH IN TRUST FOR THE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH; AND

(2)   ARE SUBJECT TO THE DISCIPLINE, USAGE, AND
MINISTERIAL APPOINTMENTS OF THE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH,
AS FROM TIME TO TIME AUTHORIZED AND DECLARED BY THE
GENERAL CONFERENCE OF THAT CHURCH.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section presently appears as
Art. 23, § 313(e).

The word "assets" is substituted for "real,

personal, and mixed property." "Assets" is

defined in §1—101 of this article to include
all such property.
