(2)    "HEALTH OFFICER" MEANS THE BALTIMORE
CITY COMMISSIONER OF HEALTH OR THE COUNTY HEALTH OFFICER
FOR THE COUNTY IN WHICH A LABORATORY IS LOCATED.

(3)    "LABORATORY" MEANS ANY PUBLIC, PRIVATE,
HOSPITAL, OR INSTITUTIONAL LABORATORY.

(4)    "SECRETARY" MEANS THE SECRETARY OF
HEALTH AND MENTAL HYGIENE.

[[(B) (1) [(a) It shall be the duty of any person
who is] THE INDIVIDUAL in charge of [any clinical] A
laboratory[, public or private, hospital or institutional
in which] SHALL REPORT TO THE HEALTH OFFICER WITHIN 48
HOURS AFTER OBTAINING FROM a laboratory examination of
any specimen derived from a human body [yields] RESULTS
THAT CONSTITUTE microscopical, cultural, immunological,
serological or other evidence SUGGESTIVE OR indicative of
gonorrhea, syphilis [or], tuberculosis [to notify within
48 hours the Commissioner of the State Department of
Health, of such findings. ], MENINGOCOCCEMIA,
SALMONELLOSIS, INCLUDING TYPHOID, BACTERIAL OR VIRAL
MENINGITIS, VIRAL HEPATITIS TYPE A, VIRAL HEPATITIS TYPE
B, OR ANY OTHER DISEASE OR CONDITION REPORTS OF WHICH THE
SECRETARY SPECIFIES TO BE NECESSARY TO CONTROL PUBLIC
HEALTH.

(2) [This] THE REPORTING requirement does
not apply to specimens examined for tuberculosis that are
derived from reported cases under treatment in a
[licensed] STATE OPERATED tuberculosis [hospital]
FACILITY.]]

(B) (1) THE INDIVIDUAL IN CHARGE OF A LABORATORY
SHALL REPORT TO THE HEALTH OFFICER WITHIN 48 HOURS AFTER
OBTAINING FROM A LABORATORY EXAMINATION OF ANY SPECIMEN

DERIVED FROM___A HUMAN BODY RESULTS THAT CONSTITUTE

MICROSCOPICAL, CULTURAL, IMMUNOLOGICAL, HISTOLOGICAL, OR
SEROLOGICAL EVIDENCE OF: (1) GONORRHEA, (2) SYPHILIS, (3)
TUBERCULOSIS, (4) MENINGOCOCCEMIA, (5) SALMONELLOSIS
(INCLUDING TYPHOID), (6) MENINGOCOCCAL MENINGITIS, (7)
HAEMOPHILIS MENINGITIS, (8) STREPTOCOCCUS MENINGITIS A,

(9) STREPTOCOCCUS MENINGITIS B, (10) VIRAL MENINGITIS,

(11) VIRAL HEPATITIS TYPE A, (12) VIRAL HEPATITIS TYPE

B.

[[(3)]] (2) THE HEALTH OFFICER SHALL INFORM
THE SECRETARY OF EACH REPORT.

(C)         WHEN MULTIPLE SPECIMENS FOR TESTING ARE

DERIVED FROM THE SAME PATIENT DURING A SINGLE DISEASE

EPISODE, THE INDIVIDUAL IN CHARGE OF THE LABORATORY MAY

WITH THE WRITTEN CONSENT OF THE HEALTH OFFICER. REPORT

THE POSITIVE RESULTS OF LESS THAN EVERY TEST PROVIDED AT
LEAST ONE TEST RESULT HAS BEEN REPORTED.
