AN ACT concerning

[[Bankruptcy — Exemption]]
Judgment Liens — Exemption from Execution

FOR the purpose of increasing a certain dollar ceiling
[[relating to bankruptcy exemptions]] that is
exempted from execution on a judgment; and making
the passage of this Act contingent upon the passage
of a Constitutional Amendment.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 11-504(a)(1) of Article - Courts
and Judicial Proceedings, of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1974 Volume and 1975 Supplement) be and it is
hereby repealed and reenacted, with amendments, to read
as follows:

Article — Courts and Judicial Proceedings

11-504.

(a) Except as provided in subsection (b) , the
following are exempt from execution on a judgment:

(1) (i) Subject to the provisions of §
11-505, [$500 in property to be selected by the
defendant, but not more than $200 in money] $1,000.

(ii) The provisions of subparagraph
(a)(1)(i) of this section may not be waived.

(iii) The sheriff shall obtain a signed
appraisal by a disinterested appraiser of the property
