Replacement Volume and 1975 Supplement) be and it is
hereby repealed and reenacted, with amendments, to read
as follows:

Article 27 - Crimes and Punishments

700A.

(d) A prisoner employed in the community under a
"work release" plan shall surrender to the [[Department]]
DIVISION of Correction his total earnings, less payroll
deductions required by law. The [[Department]] DIVISION
shall deduct from [such] THESE earnings, in the following
order of priority, an amount determined to be the cost to
the State of providing food, lodging and clothing for
[such] THE prisoner; the actual and necessary food,
travel and other expenses of [such] THE prisoner when
released from actual confinement under the program; the
amount which the prisoner may be legally obligated to pay
for the support of his dependents, which amount shall be
paid to [such] THE dependents through the local social
services administration in the county or city in which
[such] THE dependents reside; and the amount ordered to
be paid by the court as restitution. Any balance
remaining after [such] THESE deductions and payments
shall be credited to the prisoner's account and shall be
paid to him [upon release] upon release. IN THOSE CASES
IN WHICH THE PRISONER'S FINAL EARNINGS UNDER A WORK
RELEASE PLAN ARE REQUIRED TO SATISFY THE OBLIGATORY

DEDUCTIONS SET FORTH IN THIS SUBSECTION, THE BALANCE OF

SUCH EARNINGS SHALL BE FORWARDED TO THE PRISONER WITHIN
15 DAYS OF THE DATE OF HIS RELEASE FROM THE
[[DEPARTMENT'S]] DIVISION'S JURISDICTION.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1976.

AN ACT concerning

Handgun Permit Review Board - Hearings

FOR the purpose of extending the time period within which
the Superintendent of the Maryland State Police may
act upon a handgun permit application or renewal of
a permit before an applicant may request a hearing
before the Handgun Permit Review Board.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,
