According to Adjournement came Elias King high Sherf. of Said Coty
& made returne Thereof in these words vizt. Non est Inventus pr E. King Sher

Comand was likewise given to ye Sherf. of Kent County ye Thirteenth day of
Febry annoq Domi. 1700 That he Take Thomas Carman alius dictus Thomas Carman
of Kent County Planter if found in your bailiwick & him Safe keepe Soe that he
have his bodie at at ye next Court to be held for Said County to Answer unto
Perigrine Browne & Compa. of ye Citty of London Merchants of A plea of debt
Att which next Court vizt. ye 25. Day of March Annoq Domi. 1701 ye day
of ye returne of Said writt came Elias King high Sherf. of Said County & made
returne thereof in these words vizt    Cepi corpus    pr Elias King Sherf.

   But ye Said Plaintiffs by Richard Macklin theire Attry moves ye
Court yt. ye Said Defendant Thomas Coraman may find Espll. baile to Said
Action which was Granted unto him    Ordered Therefore that ye Said Deft.
Thomas Carman doe finde Espll. baile to this Action now depending between
Peregrine Browne & Compa. & ye Said Thomas Carman and that ye Sherf.
doe take ye Said Defendt into his Custody untill he find Espll. baile & there
to remaine       who was Comitted accordingly                 Jno Dowdall Clk

Who was contd. in ye Sherf. Custody untill this prsent Court       And now here at this
Day vizt. 25. Day of June annoq Domi. 1701 The Said Cause being againe Called came ye
Said Plaintiffs by theire Said Attry as alsoe ye Said Defendant being brought by ye Sherf.
And ye Said Plaintf. by theire Said Attry moves againe for Espll baile but ye Said
Defendt. brings Flower Walker along wth. him who becomes Espll. baile to Said action
and oblidgeth himselfe that ye Said Defendant Thomas Carman Shall pay condemnacon
if Cast or else he will doe it for him

Affter which ye Said Defendt. Thomas Carman comes into Court & Confesseth
Judgement in his proper person for ye Said Sume five hundred pounds of Tobo. &
Cost of Suite       the plaintf. Decln.

Kent Ss    Thomas Carman alius dictus Thomas Carman of Kent County in ye Province

of Maryland planter was Sumoned to answer unto Perigrine   & Compa. of A

plea that he render them ye full & just Sume of five hundred pounds of

good Sound Merchantable leafe Tobo. and Casque which to them he oweth & from

them he unjustly Detaines
And whereupon ye Said Perigrine Browne & Compa. by Richard Macklin theire Attry
Say that whereas ye Said Thomas Carman ye 18 day of May Anno Domi. 1700 at Kent County
within ye jurisdiction of this Court by his certaine bill or writing obligatory Sealed wth. his
Seale as his act & deed delivered here into Court brought whose Date is ye day & yeare
Afsd. did bind himselfe his heires Exrs or Adrs to pay or Cause to be paid unto ye Said
Perigrine Browne & Compa. theire heires Exrs. Adrs or Assignes ye Said Sume of
