Kent Ss	Patrick O’Bryan alius Dictus Patrick O’Bryan of Kent County in y^e
	Province of Maryland Taylor was Sumoned to Answer unto Mecajah
	Perrey Thomas Lane Richard Perrey & John DeBailehash of A plea
	that he render them the full & just Sume of Nine hundred Eighty & Two
	pounds of good Sound cleane Tob^o. which to them he oweth & from them
	he unjustly detaines

And whereupon y^e Said Mecajah Perey Thomas Lane Richard Perey & John Debailehash
by Richard Macklin theire Att^ry Saith that whereas y^e Said Patrick O’Bryan & 17^th day of
Ap^ll. Anno Domⁱ. 1700 at Kent County within y^e Jurisdiction of this Court by his certain bill
or writing obligatory Sealed w^th. his Seale as his act & deed delivered & here in Court brought
whose date is y^e day & yeare Afs^d. did bind himself his heires Ex^rs & Ad^rs to pay or
cause to be paid unto y^e Said Mecajah Perrey Thomas Lane Richard Perrey & John
Debailehashe or either of them or either of theire heires Ex^rs Ad^rs or Lawfull Att^ry
                          hundred
y^e Said Sume of Nine ^ Eight & Two pounds of Tob^o. quallified as Afs^d. on y^e then Dwelling
plantacon of y^e Said Patrick O’Bryan at or upon y^e Tenth day of October next ensuing
y^e date of y^e Said Bill or writing obligatory Yet Notwithstanding y^e Said Patrick
O’Bryan y^e Said Sume of Nine hundred Eighty & Two pounds of Tob^o. according to
y^e ten^r. of y^e Same bill unto y^e Said Mecajah Perey Thomas Lane Richard Perey &
John DeBailehashe altho offten demanded or either of them he hath not paid but y^e
Same to pay he hath denyed and refused & Still doth deny and refuse & Unjustly detaine
to the damage of y^e Said Mecajah Perey Thomas Lane Ricahrd Perey and John
Debailehashe one Thousand Sixty & four pounds of like Tob^o. and thereupon he brings
this Suite                                Macklin p^r q^r. pledges &^a.         Jn^o Doe R^d. Roe

But y^e Said Plaint^f. by theire Said Att^ry Acknowledgeth y^e Receipt of y^e Sume of
                  ninty
four hundred ^ Eight pounds of Tob^o. and y^e Said Defendant Patrick O’Bryan comes
into Court & in his proper person Confesseth Judgem^t. for y^e ball^e. being four hundred eighty
& four pounds of Tob^o. & Cost of Suite

Therefore it is Considered by y^e Court here viz^t. y^e 25 Day of June Annoq Domⁱ.
      1701 That y^e Said Plaint^f. Mecajah Perey Thomas Lane Richard Perey & Jn^o
Debailehash doe recover from y^e Said Defend^t. Patrick O’Bryan as well y^e Sume
of four hundred Eighty & four pounds of Tob^o. Debt upon ball^e. as alseo y^e Sume of
Two hundred & Tenn pounds of Tob^o. Cost of Suite & y^e Said Patrick O’Bryan in
mercy                                                                             Jn^o Dowdall Clk

Comand was given to y^e Sher^f. of Kent County y^e 28 Day of March Annoq Domⁱ 1701 that
he Take Thomas Hawkins of Said County Planter if found in his bailiwick & him Safe
keepe Soe that he have his bodie before his Maj^ties Justices at y^e Next Court to be held
for Said County to Answer unto Peregrine browne of y^e Citty of London Merchant
of A plea of Trespass upon y^e Case
Att which next Court viz^t. y^e 24 Day of June Annoq Domⁱ. 1701 y^e day of y^e
returne of Said writt came Elias King high Sher^f. of Said County and made returne
thereof in these words viz^t.       Cepi Corpus                 Elias King Sher^f.
