57 Att a Court Held for Kent County ye Twenty fourth Day of June in ye Thirteenth Yeare of ye reigne of King Wm ye Third &a. Annoq Domi. 1701
Last untill ye Tenth day of Sepr. following James Howald Servant to William Bateman Adjudged to Serve four Yeares onely from ye Ships Droping Anchor in Which he Came into ye Country Jno Dowdall Clk Mr. Sollomon Wright Sitts Read ye Peticon of David Wilson praying on ordr. of this Court for his freedom dues from Isaac Caulk wth. whom he Served part of time & bought ye rest of it Which petticon being read & argued and by ye Court duly consid ered It was Considered by ye Court in regard that there was noe discourses about ye Said Freedom dues at ye time of ye Said Davids buying of his time that ye Said Isaac Caulk pay ye Said David noe freedom dues Jno Dowdall Clk John Austin brings A Servant to Court named William Humphries Said Servt. being bound by Indentures in England Which Indentures being produced to ye Court to be judged whither they were good for nine Yeares According to ye Tenr. thereof The Said Indentures being viewed by ye Court & duly Considered It was Therefore Considered by ye Court that ye Sd. Indentures for ye time & tearm[e] of nine Yeares are good & Authentick to Cause ye Said Servant Wililam Humphries to Serve his Said Master John Austin Nine Yeares from ye time of ye Ships Droping Anchor Jno Dowdall Clk And ye Said John Austin Moves the Court that they would be pleased to judge of Servant doe Adjudge him to be Tenn Yeares of age Jno Dowdall Clk Stephen Rich Sweares to Thirty Two Days Runaway Time against Ismael Dovnish These following were Sworne both as Orphant and Grand jury vizt
