Behoofe of ye Said Lawrence paid and delivered unto ye Said Lawrence divers Sumes of Money
amounting to ye Sume of Seaventy Two pounds Seaven Shillings & Tenn pence Sterg. as
appeares by an acct. thereof to this Decln. annexed and here into Court brought In considera
:con whereof ye Said Lawrence Grose upon himselfe Assumed and unto ye Said John faithfully
promised that he ye Said Lawrence when thereunto Afterwards required ye Afsd. Sume of 72lb7s10d
Sterg. well & justly he would pay and altho ye Said Lawrence by ye neate proceed of Twenty
nine hhds of Tobo. Sent to England by ye Said Lawrence & by him consigned to ye Sd. John
Hyde hath Satisfied unto ye Said John nineteen pounds & Two Shills in part of ye Afsd.
72lb7s10d yet as to ye residue being fifty three pounds five Shillings & Tenn pence Sterg.
the Said Lawrence his Afsd. promise & Assumption not minding nor regarding but plotting
contriveing & fraudulently Intending ye Said John in that behalfe craftily & Subtily to
deceive & defraud ye Afsd. 53lb5s10d altho often demanded unto ye Said John ye Said Lawrence
according to his promise & Assumption Afsd. hath nor as yet paid but ye Same to him hitherto to
pay ye Said Lawrence hath denied and yet ye Same to pay doth deny and refuse to ye Damage of
of ye Said John Hyde one hundred pounds of like money and thereupon he brings this Suite

      John Hyde of London Merchant maketh oath upon ye holy Evangelists of Allmgiht
      :ty God to be True that the accont Dr. & Cr. of Mr Lawrence Gross of
      Maryland Amounting to Seaventy two pounds Seaven Shillings & tenn pence Sterg
      is a just & True acct. & that ye bale. thereof being fifty three pounds five
      Shillings & Tenn pence is Still due & oweing to ye deponent from ye Said Lawrance
      Grose as by ye Said Acct. Signed by ye Deponent may Appeare
