60 Rec.d July the second 1783 the Sum of one hundred pounds Current money being in full for the Consideration Money within mentioned by me Test A C Hanson Philip Meroney State of Maryland Ann Arundel County sc.t On the 2.d day of July 1783 came the within named Philip Meroney party to the within Instrument of writing before me the Subscriber one of the Judges of the General Court of the State of Maryland and acknowledged the same to be his Act and deed and the lands and Appurtenances therein mentioned and described to be the right title and Estate of the within named Thomas Gassaway and his heirs according to the true intent and meaning of the said Instrument and the Act of Assembly in such Case made and provided 4¾ sides taken before A C Hanson Ex.d Recorded 8.th day of July 1783 Ex.d & dld This Indenture made this Eleventh day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and Eighty three Between Susanna Johns of West River in Ann Arundel County widow of Kinsey Johns Esq.r deceased and daughter of M.r Richard Galloway also deceased of the one part and John Johns of the same place Son of the said Susanna of the other part Whereas Samuel Galloway Grandfather of the aforesaid Susanna Johns by his las twill and Testament did among other things give and devise unto the aforesaid Richard Galloway his Son and his heirs lawfully begotten by his body or such of them as he should think most worthy a Tract of Land called Fordstone lying at the head of West River aforesaid formerly taken up by Thomas Ford saving such part thereof as James White sold to John Waters since which the dividing line was agreed on between Elizabeth Waters and him the said Samuel Galloway also all that Tract of Land adjoining unto the aforesaid Tract called Fordstone known and held by the name of Addition with all Surplus lying between the ancient Surveys together also with that part or parcel of Land before mentioned and expressed in his the said Samuel Galloways bequest and devise to his Son John out of Cumberstone which lyeth on the South side of a Branch called Cumbers Branch and adjoining to the land then in possession of Elizabeth Waters Whereas the said Samuel Galloway by his said last will did direct that his Moiety or half part of that tract of Land purchased by him and Gerrard Hopkins of Joseph Gates and his wife Jane their daughter dwelling in the Kingdom of England together with his the said Samuels part of the Vacant land which he and the said Gerrard had taken or were to take up adjoining thereto & lying between the Head of South River and Patuxent the said Tract being held and called by the name of Whites Hall should be equally divided in four parts one part of which and the first choice he gave to his said Son Richard Galloway & his heirs for ever with a limitation over notwithstanding in case his said Son Richard shoud happen to die before he disposed thereof and without heirs & with a restriction that he shoud |
