51 against her the Said Rebecca Hammond or her heirs forever In witness whereof The Said Rebecca Hammond hath hereunto Set his hand and affixed her Seal the day and Year first above written Rebecca Hammond (s) Signed sealed and delivered in the presence of John Moale William Wear On the Back of the aforegoing deed was thus Endorsed viz.t Received the Second day of May 1783 of Matthias Hammond the Sum of five Shillings Sterling Money being in full for the Consideration Money within mentioned Witness Rebecca Hammond John Moale On the 2.d day of May 1783 Came Rebecca Hammond before us the Subscribers two of the Justices for Baltimore County Court and did acknowledge the within deed to be her act and deed and the Land and premises within mentioned to be the right and Estate of the within named Matthias Hammond his heirs and assigns forever according to the true intent and meaning of the within Instrument of writing and the Act of assembly in Such Case made and provided John Moale before us Peter Shepherd Baltimore County to wit I hereby certify that John Moale and Peter Shepherd Gentlemen before whom the above acknowledgement were taken and who have thereto Subscribed their names were at the day of the date thereof and still are two Justices of the Peace in and for the County aforesaid and to all Certificates by them given as such due faith and Credit is and ought to be given as well in Justice Courts as thereout In Testimony whereof I have hereto Set my hand and Seal of Office (seal) this Second day of May Seventeen hundred and Eighty three Recorded 19.th May 1783 William Gibson Clk Balt.o Coty Ex.d This Indenture made the Twenty eighth day of March in the year of our Lord one Thousand seven hundred and Eighty three Between Philemon Griffith of Frederick County in the State of Maryland of the one part and John Courts Jones a Captain in the Continental Army of the Other part Whereas the aforesaid Philemon Griffith and John Courts Jones obtained out of the Land Office of the State of Maryland a Patent bearing date the second day of October Seventeen hundred and eighty two for a Tract of Land called the Sugar True Camps lying and being formerly Frederick but now in Washington County and Containing three hundred and ten acres and the Said Philemon Griffith having agreed to Sell his moiety of the said Lands to him the said John Courts Jones Now This Indenture Witnesseth That the said Philemon Griffith for and in Consideration of the sum of Fifty Pounds Specie to him in hand paid by the Said John Courts Jones at the Sealing and delivery of these presents the Receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged and the said John Courts Jones is hereby acquitted hath given granted bargained and sold and by these presents doth give grant bargain and Sell and release unto the Said John C Jones all his (The Said) |
