477) On the back of the aforegoing Deed was thus Endorsed (to wit) Received the ninth day of January one thousand seven hundred and Eighty six from Catherine Kellem the sum of Five hundred and seventy five Pounds Currency in specie being the consideration Money within mentioned Test A C Hanson R.d Ponsonby Maryland Sc.t On the Ninth day of January seventeen hundred and Eighty six Richard Ponsonby the Grantor mentioned in the above Instrument of Writing came before the Subscriber one of the Judges of the General Court and acknowledged the said Instrument of writing to be his Act and Deed 7¾ sides A C Hanson Recorded this 9.th day of January 1786 Maryland Ss.t Know all Men by these presents that we James Maccubbin Lingan William Deakins and William Bayly of Montgomery County in the aforesaid State are held and firmly bound to the State of Maryland in the full and Just sum of Five thousand pounds Current Money to be paid to and for the use and behalf of the state aforesaid to the which payment well and truly to be made we bind ourselves and every of us our and every of our Heirs Executors and Administrators Jointly and severally for the whole firmly by these presents sealed with our Seals and Dated this seventh day of Febu.y in the eighth year of the State and in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty five The Condition of the above obligation is such that if the above bound James Maccubbin Lingan shall well and faithfully execute and perform the several Duties required of him by Law and shall faithfully Collect and receive all rates duties imports laid or imposed by any Act of the General Assembly of this State and shall well and truly pay to the Treasury of the Western Shore the several rates duties and imposts or sums of Money or Quantities of Tobacco which he shall collect receive or be accountable for by Law at such time or times as by Law shall be directed and in all things conduct himself faithfully and Honestly in the execution of his trust according to his power then the above obligation to be void else to remain in full force and Virtue Signed Sealed and J.s M Lingan (seal) Delivered in the presence of William Deakins Jun.r (seal) Thomas Magruder John Murdock William Bayly (seal) (On) |
