461) Appurtenances free and clear and freed and discharged of and from all former Sales Gifts Grants Dowers or titles of Dower against him the said Philip Hammond Hopkins his Heirs and Assigns or any person or persons that shall or may lay claim thereto by from or under him the said Philip Hammond Hopkins his Heirs or Assigns And further the said Philip Hammond Hopkins doth for himself his Heirs Executors and Administrators covenant grant and agree to and with the said Margaret Hopkins her Heirs and Assigns that the said Philip Hammond Hopkins shall and will Warrant and forever Defend the aforesaid Tract of Land and Premisses with the appurtenances unto her the said Margaret Hopkins her heirs and assigns for ever against all manner of Persons that shall or may lay any claim thereto by from or under him the said Philip Hammond Hopkins his Heirs Executors Administrators or assigns In Witness whereof the said Philip Hammond Hopkins hath here unto set and affixed his hand and Seal the day and year first above Written Signed Sealed and Delivered in the presence of Philip Hammond Hopkins (seal) A C Hanson On the back of the aforegoing Deed was thus Written (to wit) Montgomery Cot.y Received the day and Year first within Written of and from the within Named Margaret Hopkins the sum of five Shillings Sterling being the Consideration Money within Mentioned to be paid to me by her I say Rec.d by me Witness Philip H Hopkins A C Hanson Maryland On the 29.th day of November one thousand Seven hundred and Eighty five ^personally^ appeared before the Subscriber one of the Judges of the General Court the within named Philip Hammond Hopkins and acknowledged the within Instrument of Writing to be his Act and Deed and the Land and premisses therein mentioned to be the right and Estate of the within named Margaret Hopkins her heirs and assigns for ever according to the true intent and meaning of the within Written Instrument 11¾ sides A C Hanson Recorded November the 29.th 1785 Know all Men by these presents that we Charles Mankin Francis Ware Thomas Hussey Luckett Samuel Tubman William Cox James Russell & Basil Robey of Charles County are held and firmly bound unto the State of Maryland in the full and just sum of Fourteen thousand pounds Current Money to be paid to the said State to the which payment well and truly to be made and done We bind our selves our heirs Executors and administrators in and for the whole jointly and severally firmly by these presents sealed with our seals and Dated this twenty first day of March Anno Domini one thousand seven hundred and Eighty five (The) |
