                On the back of the aforegoing Deed was thus Endorsed (to wit)

                         Maryland fs.t  On the first day of November 1785 Came before
       the Subscriber one of the Judges of the General Court the within Named Clement
       Hollyday and Gabriel Duvall and acknowledged the within Instrument
       of writing to be their Act and Deed and the Land and premises therein
       Mentioned to be the right title and Estate of the within Named Richard
       Hendly Courts his heirs and assigns forever according to the true Intent
       and Meaning thereof and the Act of Assembly in such case made and Provided

                                     Know all men by these presents that we Edward
       Flannagan & Elizabeth Sophia Flannagan of Harford County in consideration
       of the sum of Two hundred and sixty two pounds ten shillings Current Money
       to us in hand paid by Nicholas McCubbin of the City of Annapolis the receipt
       whereof we hereby acknowledged have for our selves our heirs Executors & Administrators
       given granted released and confirmed & by these presents do give grant
       release and confirm unto the said Nicholas Maccubbin his heirs Executors
       Administrators & assigns all our Right title Interest and Demand whatever
       either in Law or equity to a certain Mulatto Wench named Poll now in the
       possession of the said Nicholas Maccubbin & to all her Increase which she
       now hath or shall hereafter have for which said Mulatto Pollan Action
       of Replevin was heretofore brought by the said Edward & Elizabeth Sophia
       in the General Court & compromised on Terms filed in Court in October Term
       1785  And whereas by the said Terms filed in Court as aforesaid it is
       stipulated & agreed on behalf of the said Edward and Elizabeth Sophia
       that if there should hereafter be at any time a recovery either at Law or in
       Equity of thee said Negroes from the said Nicholas Maccubbin by a title
       paramount the Title under which the said Nicholas Maccubbin holds the
       said Negroe Poll & her Increase as afd and the Title under which the said
       Edward & Eliz Sophia claim them the Defendant that is the sid Nicholas
       Maccubbin claiming under a Deed from a certain Ann Sligh Mother
       of the said Elizabeth Sophia & the said Elizabeth & Edward claim under
       a Gift from Tho Sligh Grandfather to the aforesaid Elizabeth Sophia that then
       the said sum of money paid as aforesaid by the said Nicholas shall be
       repaid to him his heirs Executors & Administrators by the said Edward
       Flannagan his heirs Executors & Administrators Now the said Edward &
