433) pence Sterling Money then this Indenture and every part thereof shall cease and be absolutely void and of no effect in Witness whereof the said William Brown hathe hereunto set his hand and affixed his seal the day & year first above written Signed Sealed & Delivered in presence of William Brown (seal) A C Hanson On the back of the aforegoing Mortgage was thus endorsed (Viz.t) Maryland Ss.t On the second day of May seventeen hundred and Eighty five came before the subscriber one of the Judges of the General Court the within named William Brown and acknowledged the within Instrument of writing to be his Act and Deed and the piece of Land Lots of Ground Negroes Stock and other property therein mentioned to be the right title and estate of the within Names Mary McCulloch Charles Stewart and James McCulloch Executors of James Dick deceased according to the true intent and meaning thereof 8¼ sides A C Hanson Recorded this 26.th day of October 1785 Ex.d & Dl.d This Indenture made the fourteenth day of September in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty five Between Clement Hollyday and Gabriel Duvall Esquires two of the Commissioners appointed to preserve confiscated British property of the one part and Thomas Johnson late of the City of Annapolis now of Frederick County of the other part Whereas at a public Sale amongst other of the Land herein after described and mentioned to be conveyed had at Frederick Town in Frederick County aforesaid on the tenth day of October Seventeen hundred and Eighty one by Virtue of and in pursuance of an Act of Assembly "for the Emission of Bills of Credit not exceeding Two hundred thousand pounds on the security of double the value in Lands to defray the Expences of the present Campaign" he the said Thomas Johnson was the best and highest bidder for the Lot piece or parcel of Land herein after described and mentioned to be Conveyed at and for the price of one thousand four and ten pounds for which he gave his Bond with security agreeable to the said act and hath since fully paid and satisfied to the Treasurer of the western Shore the said purchase Money together with all Interest due thereon Now This Indenture Witnesseth that the said Nathaniel Ramsey Clement Hollyday and Gabriel Duvall Commissioners aforesaid for and in consideration of the said payment and other the premises and by virtue of any and all act or acts of assembly in such case made and provided Have granted Bargained sold conveyed and released and by these presents Do grant bargain sell convey and release to the said Thomas Johnson his Heirs and Assigns All that the said Lot piece or parcel of Land being part of Taskers chance lying in the said County distinguished by the Number Thirty two Beginning at a Mill Stone the beginning of John George Loys Land and running with said Loys Land allowing four Degrees Variation South fifty Nine Degrees East seventy six perches then North one (hundred) |
