428) State of Maryland Be it remembered that on the Twelfth day of October in the year one thousand seven hundred and Eighty five John Hoskins Stone Merchant the party named as Grantor in the within Instrument of writing came before me the subscriber one of the Judges of the General Court in the State of Maryland and acknowledged the said within Instrument of Writing to be his Act and Deed and the Land and premises therein mentioned to be conveyed and sold to be the absolute right Title Inheritance and Fee simple Estate of the within Named Robert Hanson Harrison his heirs and assigns forever according to the true intent purport and meaning thereof and the act of assembly in such case provided And be it also remembered that at the same time Mary the wife of the said John Hoskins Stone acknowledged the said Within Instrument of writing in like manner and relinquished all her right and Title of Dower of & in the Land therein and thereby conveyed and that she being privately examined by the Subscriber out of the hearing of her said Husband whether she acknowledged the same willingly and freely and without being Induced thereto by fear or threats of or ill usage by her said Husband or fear of his displeasure answered and declared that she did the same wittingly and freely and without being induced thereto by Fear or threats of or ill usage by her said Husband or fear of his displeasure In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal on the day and year above written 13 sides R Goldsborough Jun.r (seal) Recorded the 14.th of October 1785 Ex.d & dld Know all Men by these presents that we Christopher Court and Company of London Merchants have made ordained constituted authorized and appointed and by these presents do make ordain constitute authorize and appoint Joseph Court of the State of Maryland Merchant our true and faithful Attorney giving and hereby granting unto our said Attorney full power and lawful authority for us the said constituents in our names and for our use to ask demand levy sue for and by all lawful ways and means recover and receive of and from all and every or any person or persons whatsoever whom it shall or may concern inhabiting or being in the State of Maryland or in any other of the United States of America all such sum and sums od Money Goods Wares Merchandize Effects Estate and things which ^now^ are or shall or may hereafter be due owing payable belonging or in anywise appertaining unto us the said constituents whether by Bond Note Bill Book debt Account Consignment Contract Agreement Decree Sentence Judgment Execution Extent or for by or upon any other account way reason or means soever Nothing in Law or Equity excepted or reserved and to that end with all and every or any person or persons whom it shall or may concern to account and to view state settle and adjust all accounts and the ballance thereof to receive and upon (recovery) |
