425) The State of Maryland Montgomery County to wit Know all men by these presents that we George Beall John Peter & Ninian Magruder all of the County aforesaid are held and firmly bound unto the State of Maryland in the full and just sum or Quantity of Forty thousand pounds of Tobacco to be paid to the said State To which payment well and truly to be made we bind our selves our and each of our heirs Executors and Administrators jointly and severally in and for the whole firmly by these presents seald with our seales this 20.th day of September one thousand seven hundred and eighty five The Condition of this obligation is such that if the above George Beall will diligently and carefully view and examine all tobacco brought to any public warehouse or warehouses where he is appointed to be Inspector and all other Tobacco he shall be called upon to view and Inspect and that he will not receive any Tobacco that is not in his Judgment sound well conditioned Merchantable and clear of Trash nor receive pass or stamp any Tobacco or Hhd of Tobacco prohibited by an act of Assembly entitled an act for the regulation of the Staple of Tobacco and that he will receive pass and stamp all Tobacco that is sound well conditioned Merchantable and clear of Trash and in all things well and faithfully discharge his duty in the Office of an Inspector according to the best of his skill and judgment and according to the directions of the said act without Fear Favour Affection Mallace or partiality and that he will in all things well and faithfully Execute and perform the several duties required of him by the said Act then this obligation to be void and of No Effect otherwise to remain in full force Signed Sealed and George Beall (seal) Delivered in the presents of Allen Bowie John Peter (seal) W.m B Magruder Ninian Magruder (seal) On the back of the above Bond was thus written Viz September the 20.th 1785 I hereby certify that this day I saw the within named George Beale John Peter & Ninian Magruder execute the within Bond and that the said George Beall Qualified as Inspector at George Town wheare House agreeable to Law 3½ sides Allen Bowie Recorded the 12.th October 1785 Ex.d & Deld This Indenture made the twelfth day of October in the Year of our Lord Christ one thousand seven hundred and eighty five Between John Hoskins Stone Merchant formerly a resident of Charles County but at (present) |
