422) their order the several sums of Money which he shall receive or be answerable for by Law at such times as the Law shall direct then the above obligation to be void and of no effect or else to stand and remain in full force and Virtue Signed Sealed and Delivered in the presence of John H Nicholls (seal) Th Turner Walter Smith (seal) Cephas Beall John Suter (seal) On the back of the aforegoing Bond was thus written Viz Montgomery County August 26.th 1784 Came Tho.s Turner & Cephas beall the two Subscribing Witnesses to the within Bond and made Oath on the Holy Evangels of Almighty that they did see John Haymond Nicholls Walter Smith and John Suter Sign and Seale the same and deliver it for their Act and Deed for the uses and purposes therein mentioned Sworn Before 2¾ sides Tho Beall of Geo Recorded the 12.th October 1785 The State of Maryland Montgomery County to wit Know all men by these presents that we Hezekiah Magruder Ninian Magruder and John Busey all of the County aforesaid are held and firmly bound unto the State of Maryland in the full and just sum or Quantity of Forty thousand pounds of Tobacco to be paid to the said State to which payment well and truly to be made we bind ourselves our and each of our Heirs Executors and Administrators jointly and severally in and for the whole firmly by these presents sealed with our seales and dated this Eleventh day of November one thousand seven hundred and Eighty four The Condition of the above obligation is that if the above bounded Hezekiah Magruder will Diligently and carefully view and examine all Tobacco brought to any public Ware house he is appointed to be Inspector and all other Tobacco he shall be called upon to view and Inspect and that he will not receive any Tobacco that is not in his Judgment sound well conditioned Merchantable and clear of Trash nor receive pass or stamp any Tobacco or hogshead of Tobacco prohibited by an act of Assembly entitled an act for the regulation of the Staple of Tobacco and the well receive pass and stamp all Tobacco that is sound well conditioned merchantable and clear of Trash and in all things well and faithfully discharge his Duty in the office of an Inspector according to the best of his skill and Judgment and according to the Directions of the said Act without Fear Favour Affection Mallace or partiality and the will in all things well (and) |
