       Know all men by these Presents that I James Russel of Crutched Fryers London
       Merchant having the next pressing Occasion to go over to North America to Look after my Property
       and Affairs there but being prevented doing So by age and infirmities have therefore made
       Ordained Constituted and appointed and by these presents do make Ordain Constitute &
       Appoint and in my place and Stead put and Depute my Grandson James Clerke of Crutched
       Fryers aforesaid London Merchant my true and Lawfull Attorney for me and in my name and
       On my Behalf and for my use and Account to ask demand and by all Lawful ways and
       means to recover and receive of and from all and every Person or Persons Bodies Politic or Corporate
       whom it may Concern in the Provinces of Maryland and Virginia or Either of them or
       Else where in North America all and every Debt and debts Sum and Sums of Money Goods
       Merchandizes and Effects which is or are or shall or may at any Time be or become due or
       Owing payable or Belonging to me from any Such Person or Persons Bodies Politic of
       Corporate  And for me and in my name and on my Behalf to make up State Settle
       and Adjust all and every Account and Accounts now or hereafter to be Depending between
       me and any such Person or Persons Bodies Politic or Corporate and to Conclude Compromize
       and agree with any Such Person or Persons Bodies Politic or Corporate who
       is or are or Shall or may bereafter be or become Debtor or debtors to me or my Estate for or in
       respect of Such his or their Debt or debts and to receive what upon the Ballance of any Such
       Account or Accounts or upon any Such end Compromise or Compositions shall appear
       to be due to or agree to be accepted and Taken by me or my Said Attorney on my Behalf
       And to pay and discharge all Such Debt or debts Sum or Sums of Money as is or are
       or shall appear to be due and owing from me to any Person or Persons Whomsoever
       Bodies Politic or Corporate in the Said Provinces or Either of them or Elsewhere in
       North America aforesaid  And upon Receipt and Possession had of all and Every or any
       of the Said Debts Sum or Sums of Money Goods Merchandizes and Effects which
       now is or are or shall be or become due owing payable or belonging to me or my
       Estate Good and Sufficient Releases acquittances or Other discharges for me
       and in my name and on my Behalf to give Sign Seal and execute  And
       Generally for me and in my name and on my Behalf or in his own Name
       To transact manage and Negotiate all and every my affairs and Businesses and
       do Sign Seal execute and Perform all and every Act and Acts Deed and Deeds
       Matters and Things whatsoever which Shall be requisite and necessary or thought
       proper to be done and Executed by my Said Attorney on my Behalf in and About
       or Relating to my Debts Property Estates and Effects in the Said Provinces or
       Elsewhere in North America aforesaid or any of them as fully and Effectually
       to all Intents and purposes as I myself might or Could do if Personally present
       nd doing thereof and I do hereby Authorize and Empower my Said
                                                                                                 Grandson
