396) Immediately following the aforegoing Deed Was thus Written viz.t Received on the first day of April last of the aforesaid James Craik and Thomas Marshall the Consideration in the foregoing Deed mentioned being the sum of twelve hundred sixty five pounds in Army Certificates with Interest to the said first day of April Witness my Hand this tenth day of May 1785 Test G Duvall W.m Hall 3.d Maryland fs On the thirteenth day of May 1785 Came Clement Hollyday & Gabriel Duvall two of the Commissioners appointed to preserve Confiscated British Property parties to the foregoing Instrument of Writing before the Subscriber one of the Judges of the General Court & acknowledged the same to be their Act and Deed & the Lot of Lands therein mentioned to be the right and Estate of James Craik and Thomas Marshall therein named their Heirs and Assigns for Ever according to the intent and meaning thereof A C Hanson Recorded this 1.st day of July 1785 State of Maryland Know all Men by these Presents That we Samuel Abell youngest Joseph Ford & Bennit Riley of Saint Marys County and State aforesaid are held and firmly bound unto the State of Maryland aforesaid in the full Sum and just Quantity of Two hundred thousand Pounds of good sound Merchantable leaf Tobacco and Cask to be paid to the said state of Maryland to the which payment well and truly to be made we bind ourselves and every of us our and every of our Heirs Extt.s and Adm.rs jointly & Severally for the whole by these presents Sealed with our Seals and dated this tenth day of June 1785 The Condition of the above obligation is such that if the above bound Sam.l Abell do well and truly serve the State of Maryland in the Office of High Sheriff of the County aforesaid within the State aforesaid and in all things well and faithfully execute the same office and also shall render the said State of Maryland and other its officers a true faithful and perfect account of all and singular the State of Maryland Rights and dues and to its officers a true and just account of all their fees the he shall or may be entrusted with by the said State of Maryland officers to receive and collect and the accounts of the State of Maryland and to this and their officers for the time being for the fines and forfeitures and other dues belonging to the State aforesaid as also its account of fees dues & Sums of Money or Tobacco due to any of the good People within in this State for any Sum or sums of Money or Tobacco wherewith the said Sheff shall be entrusted during the time of his Sherrevalty for this present year or to such of them as shall require the same shall pass and render and render by the tenth day of May next ensuing the date hereof and in all other things as Sheriff of the County of Saint Marys shall behave himself well and honestly towards all persons according to the best of his power skill and knowledge then this obligation |
