(393 Relinquished all her right and Title of Dower to the within mentioned Lotts of Ground and parts of Lotts of Ground Tracts of Land and parts of Tracts of Land and premises with every of the appurtenances and she further declared that she made this her acknowledgment freely and Voluntarily without being induced thereto by fear of or threats of Ill usage from her said Husband or through fear of his Displeasure Certified before R Goldsbrough jun.r State of Maryland fs.t I hereby Certify that Robert Goldsborough Jun.r Esquire is a Judge of the General Court of the State aforesaid duly Commission at and qualified And that all Acknowledgments by him taken have full faith and Credit as well in Courts of Justice as elsewhere Witness my Hand this 23.d Day of June Anno Domini 1785 J Johnson O Council State of Maryland fs.t In Testimony that Thomas Johnson Jun.r is Clerk of the Executive Council for the State of Maryland I have hereunto affixed the Great Seal of the said state this twenty third day of June Anno Domini Seventeen hundred and eighty five W.m Hyde Reg.r Cur Can Recorded this 24.th day of June 1785 Ex.d dld & p.d This Indenture made this tenth day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and Eighty five Between Clement Hollyday and Gabriel Duvall two of the Commissioners appointed to preserve Confiscated British Property of the one part and James Craik Physician of Charles County of the other part Whereas the Commissioners appointed to preserve Confiscated British Property for the time being did on the tenth day of September in the year Seventeen hundred and Eighty two by Virtue of an Act of the General Assembly of Maryland entitled an Act for the Sale of Certain Confiscated British Property pledged for the Redemption of Certificates and another Act entitled an act to post pone the Sale of Certain Confiscated British Property for the Redemption of Certificates and other the Acts of the General Assembly concerning the Premises proceed to the Sale of Monocacy Manor in Frederick County at which said Sale a certain William Smallwood purchased for the aforesaid James Craik Lots Number Fifty six and Fifty seven being part of said Manor at and for the Sum of one thousand two hundred and Seventy Pounds in Army Certificates he being the highest bidder therefore at and for the Sum aforesaid Now this Indenture Witnesseth that the said Clement Hollyday and Gabriel Duvall for and in Consideration of the aforesaid Sum of one thousand two hundred and seventy pounds in Certificates aforesaid with the Interest due thereon to the first day of April last to them in hand paid by the said James Craik the Receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged Have granted bargained Sold reLeased and Confirmed and by these presents Do grant bargain sell release and Confirm unto him the said James Craik his Heirs and Assigns for Ever All these two lots of Monocacy Manor aforesaid lying and being in Frederick County and described as follows that is to say Lot Number fifty six and fifty seven being added together and reduced into one entire Tract including some Vacancy added Begining for the outlines of the whole at a bounded white oak Tree the |
