382) Maryland On the 1.st day of June 1785 Before the Subscriber one of the Judges of the General Court came George Brent and made Oath on the Holy Evangelists of Almighty God that on the twenty eighth of May in the year of our Lord one thousand Seven hundred and Eighty five he saw Elenor Brent William Brent and Daniel Carroll Brent parties to the within Indenture and the above written Power of Attorney Sign Seale and deliver the same as their proper Acts and Deeds in the presence of this Deponent and that this Deponent and the said Eliza Marshall Daniel Brent and Ludwell Lee Subscribed their Names thereto as Witnesses at the request of the said Parties A C Hanson Maryland On the 1.st day of June 1785 Before the Subscriber one of the Judges of the General Court Came Elenor Brent William Brent and Daniel Carroll Brent by William Stewart of Ann Arundel County Gentleman their attorney and acknowledged the within Indenture and Instrument of Writing to be the Act and Deed of the within mentioned Elenor Brent William Brent and Daniel Carroll Brent and the Lands and Premises therein mentioned to be Right Estate and Inheritance of the within mentioned Samuel Chew his Heirs and Assigns for Ever according to the true intent and meaning of the within Indenture and Instrument of Writing and the Act of Assembly in such Case made and Provided A C Hanson 18 sides Recorded this 1.st day of June 1785 State of Maryland fs.t Whereas Nathan Waters of Ann Arundel County in the State of Maryland hath this day Sold and Conveyed by Deed of Ex.d & Bargain and Sale unto William Wilkins his Heirs and Assigns for Ever One Lott Delivered of Land Situate lying and being in George Town in Montgomery County and State aforesaid known and distinguished in the Plott of the said Town by the Number Thirty four for the Consideration of three hundred and fifty Pounds And Whereas it is the intention and agreement of the Parties that the Lott of Land aforesaid shall be secured to the said William Wilkins his Heirs and Assigns free from any Incumbrance of Dower Now the said Nathan Waters for himself his Heirs Executors and Administrators Doth Covenant with the said William Wilkins his Heirs and Assigns that in Case his wife Catherine who at this time by reason of insanity is incapable of relinquishing her right of Dower should ever after the death of the said Nathan Waters claim her right of Dower in the aforesaid Lott of Land then and in that Case the said Nathan Waters's Heirs Executors or Administrators shall pay or cause to be paid unto the said William Wilkins his Heirs or Assigns whatever Damage or loss he or they may Suffer or Sustain by reason of his wife's claim of her right of Dower in the aforesaid Lott of Land In Witness the said Nathan Waters hath hereunto Set his Hand and Seal this Eighth day of February one thousand seven hundred and Eighty five Signed Sealed and delivered in the Presence of Nathan Waters (Seal) 2½ sides W.m Ball William Wilkins Jun.r Recorded this 1.st day of June 1785 |
