263 Without fraud or Destruction then this Present Indenture and every Matter Clause article and thing herein contained shall cease determine and be utterly void to all intents and purposes whatsoever any thing herein contained to the contrary thereof in any Wise Notwithstanding And the said Henry May for himself his Heirs Executors and Administrators doth hereby covenant grant Promise and agree to and with the said James West his Heirs Executors Administrators and Assigns by these presents that he the said Henry May his Heirs Executors or Administrators shall and will well and truly pay or Cause to be paid to him the said James West his Heirs Executors Administrators or Assigns the aforesaid sum of twelve hundred Pounds Current Money with Legal Interest thereon at or before the aforesaid sixteenth Day of March seventeen hundred and eighty five aforesaid according to the true Intent and meaning of these presents and that he the said Henry May and his Heirs the said parcel of Land and Premises and every part and parcel thereof Negroes goods and Chattels hereby granted bargained and sold or intended so to be to him the said James West his Heirs and Assigns against him the said Henry May his Heirs and Assigns and against all manner of person and persons whatsoever claiming or which shall or may at any time hereafter claim the same or any part thereof shall and will Warrant and forever hereafter Defend by these presents In Witness whereof the parties to these presents have hereunto interchangeably set their hands and Affixed their seals the Day and Year first within Written Signed Sealed and Delivered In the presence of Henry May (Seal) Thomas D Merrick William Williams James West (Seal) At the foot of the aforegoing Deed was Endorsed as follows to wit Received on the Day and year first within Written of and from the within named James West the sum of twelve hundred Pounds Current money being the Consideration Money Within Mentioned to be by him paid to me I say received by me Witness Henry May Tho.s D Merrick William Williams Maryland On the 10.th Day of November 1784 Came before me the Subscriber one of the Judges of the General Court the within named Henry May and Acknowledged the within Instrument of writing to be his Act and Deed and the Parcel of Land Negroes goods and Chattels therein Mentioned and thereby granted bargained and sold or intended so to be to be the right title and Estate of him the within named James West his heirs and Assigns according to the true intent and meaning of the same deed and the Act of Assembly in such case made and provided before 11 Recorded the 10.th Day of November 1784 A C Hanson |
