220 On the back of the aforegoing Deed was thus Indorsed to wit March 18.th 1784 Received of and from the within named James West the sum of one hundred and fifty Pounds Current money in full for the Consideration money within mentioned to be paid to me Allen Quynn Richard Beard Junior On the 18.th day of March 1784 the above and within named Richard Beard Junior came before us the subscribers two of the Justices of the peace for Ann Arundel County and acknowledged the above Instrument of writing to be his Act and Deed agreeable to the laws of the State of Maryland in such case made and provided 9½ sides Allen Quynn Recorded 23.d June 1784 Acknowledged before Francis Fairbrother Ex.d Know all men by these presents that we John Baden Son of Thomas and Thomas Baden of Prince Georges County Gentlemen are held and firmly bound unto the State of Maryland in the full and Just Quantity of forty Thousand Pounds of Tobacco to be paid unto the said State of Maryland to the which payment well and truly to be made and done we bind ourselves our heirs Executors and Administrators jointly and Severally firmly by these presents Sealed with our Seals and Dated this Seventeenth Day of April Anno Domini One Thousand Seven hundred and eighty four The Condition of the Above Obligation is such that if the said John Baden son of Thomas will diligently and carefully View and examine all Tobacco brought to any Public Warehouse or Warehouses when he is Appointed Inspector and all other Tobacco he shall be Called upon to View and Inspect and that he will not receive any Tobacco that is not in his Judgment sound well Conditioned Merchantable and Clear of Trash nor receive Pass or Stamp any Tobacco or Hogshead of Tobacco prohibited by an Act of Assembly entitled an Act for the regulation of the Staple of Tobacco and that he will receive pass and Stamp all Tobacco that is sound well Conditioned Merchantable and Clear of Trash and in all things well and faithfully Discharge his duty in the Office of an Inspector according to the best of of his ^skill and^ Judgment and According to the directions of the said Act without fear favour Affection Malice or partiallity and that he will in all things well and faithfully execute and perform the several duties required of him by this Act then the above Obligation to be Void otherwise to remain ^and be^ in full force and Virtue in Law Signed Sealed and Delivered John Baden son of Tho.s (seal) in the presence of Thomas Hodgkin Tho.s Baden (Seal) his Abraham | Turner mark On the Back of the aforegoing Bond was thus Indorsed to wit Prince Georges County sc.t then Came Thomas Hodgkin & Abraham Turner the two Subscribing Witnesses to the within Bond and made Oath on the Holy Evangels of Almighty God that they were present and saw John Baden son of Thomas and Thomas Baden Sign Seal and Deliver the within Bond Recorded 3.d July 1784 W Bowie Ex.d This Indenture made this Twenty ninth day of June in the year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred and eighty four Between Richard Lee Administrator Philip Thomas Lee deceased of Charles County Gentleman of the one Part and Jonathan Sellman Junior of Ann Arundel County Gentleman of the other Part Witnesseth that the said Richard Lee Administrator of Philip Thomas Lee deceased for and in Consideration of the sum of eight hundred and sixty six pounds four Shillings Sterling money to him the aforesaid Richard Lee Administrator of Philip Thomas Lee ^deceased^ in hand (paid) |
