217 The said John Steinmetz & William Bell ant^e^cedent to the thirteenth day of June last Past And it is further agreed by the Parties to these Presents that whatever Money the said John Steinmetz & William Bell may receive from him the said Richard Ponsonby either from the aforesaid Sales or otherwise shall be by them Applied to the Credit of his Debt or Debts to them herein mentioned for the Value of each sum of Sums of money in Tobacco at the Current Market Price given at Bladensburgh and George Town when such payment or payments may be made which price or Value shall be first fixed & mutually agreed to by all the parties hereto In Witness whereof the said Richard Ponsonby hath hereunto set his hand and affixed his seal the day and year first above written Signed Sealed & Delivered Richard Ponsonby (Seal) In presence of A C Hanson At the foot of the aforegoing Deed was thus Written to wit Maryland fs.t On the twelfth day of December 1783 came the above named Richard Ponsonby before the subscriber one of the Judges of the General Court & acknowledged the foregoing instrument of writing to be his act and Deed & the Land & premises therein mentioned to be the right title and Estate of 12¾ sides John Steinmetz & William Bell therein named their heirs & Assigns for ever according to the true intent and meaning thereof A C Hanson Recorded 11.th June 1784 Ex.d & dl.d This Indenture made this eighth Day of June in the year of our Lord One thousand Seven hundred and eighty four Between Clement Hollyday and Nathaniel Ramsey Esquires two of the Commissioners appointed to preserve confiscated British property of the one part and William Smallwood Esquire of Charles County of the other part Whereas the aforesaid Commissioners by an Act entitled An Act for the sale of Certain Confiscated British Property pledged for the redemption of certificates and an Act entitled an Act to Postpone the Sale of certain Confiscated British Property for the Redemption of Certificates were directed to lay off Monococy Manor in Frederick County in convenient Lots and the same to sell at publick Sale on the Terms therein mentioned and the said Commissioners did by Virtue and Pursuance of the said Acts and in Conformity to the Directions thereof sell the same on the tenth day of September in the year one thousand seven hundred and eighty two at which said Sale the aforesaid William Smallwood became the purchaser of Lot Number Eight part of the said Manor at and for the sum of one thousand two hundred and twenty five pounds and of lot Number Nine also part of said manor at and for the Sum of one thousand five hundred and Sixty Pounds he being the highest bidder for the said Lots at the respective prices aforesaid in Specie Now This Indenture Witnesseth that the aforesaid Clement Hollyday and Nathaniel Ramsey Commissioners as aforesaid for and in Consideration of the sum of two Thousand seven hundred and eighty five Pounds to Thomas Harwood Esquire Treasurer of the Western Shore by the said William Smallwood paid before the date hereof Have granted bargained sold aliened released and confirmed and by these Presents Do grant bargain sell alien release and Confirm unto him the said William Smallwood the aforesaid two Lots of ground Number eight and Number nine being part of Monococy Manor aforesaid Number eight begining at a large bounded black Oak the Original beginning Tree and running thence South twenty nine Degrees and an half Degree East one hundred and forty three perches then North seventy six degrees West two hundred and ten Perches then North nine Degrees West One hundred and five Perches then North forty eight Degrees East thirty one Perches then East twenty Perches then South seventy seven Degrees East Seventy Six Perches then South fifty three Degrees East forty Perches then by a Strait line to the begining Tree containing one hundred and forty Acres more or less and Number nine begining at a large bounded black Oak Tree the original Beginning and runing thence North six degrees East twelve Perches then South seventy six degrees East twenty eight Perches then North seventy seven degrees East twenty perches then North sixty Degrees East thirty seven Perches then South thirty seven degrees East two hundred and five perches then South forty three degrees West seven Perches then south thirty seven Degrees East one hundred and one Perches then South Seventy four Degrees West Seventy Perches then South (Sixteen) |
