210 In the year of our Lord Seventeen hundred and Eighty four Test Jn.o Hammond (seal) Ann Walker Thomas Pitts his James IT Taylor (seal) mark At the Foot of the aforegoing Deed was thus written (Viz.t) Ann Arundel County January 8.th 1784 Then came before me the subscriber one of the Justices of the peace for said County John Hammond and acknowledged the within Instrument of writing to be his Act and Deed and Negro James therein mentioned ^to be^ thereby manumitted and set free according to the tenor of the same and the act of Assembly in that case made and Provided James Kelso Recorded 11.th May 1784 State of Maryland to wit Ex.d Know all men by these presents that we Henry Huntt Frisby Freeland & Daniel Kentt all of Calvert County and State aforesaid am held and firmly bound unto the State of Maryland in the full and Just sum of four thousand Pounds Current money to be paid unto the said State or its certain Attorney to the which payment well and truly to be made and done we bind ourselves our and each of our heirs Executors and Administrators firmly by these presents sealed with our seals and Dated this Sixteenth Day of April 1784 The Condition of the Above Obligation is such that If the above bound Henry Huntt shall well and faithfully execute and perform the several Duties required of him as Collector of the Tax for Calvert County according to Law then the above Obligation to be void else to remain in full force Signed Sealed and Delivered in the presence of us Henry Huntt (seal) Dan.l Rawlings Jn.o Wilkinson Frisby Freeland (seal) Tho.s Mackall Fred.k Skinner Daniel Kentt (seal) Recorded 11.th May 1784 Ex.d This Indenture made this thirtieth Day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand Seven hundred and Eighty four Between Thomas Dorsey of Ann Arundel County in the State of Maryland Gentleman of the One part and Evelyn Pierrepont of the Common Wealth of Virginia Merchant but at this Time resident in the City of New York of the Other part Whereas the aforesaid Thomas Dorsey is indebted to the aforesaid Evelyn Pierrepont in the sum of three thousand one hundred and Eighty Pounds ten Shillings and Six pence Sterling money with Interest to commence thereon from the first Day of May as one of the partners of Dorsey Wheeler and company of Baltimore County Merchants and being desirous to secure the payment of the said Sum of Money together with all interest arising due thereon on or before the firt Day of May which Shall happen in the year of our Lord one thousand Seven hundred and Eighty Six hath agreed to execute these Presents Now this Indenture Witnesseth that the said Thomas Dorsey in Consideration of the above recited premisses and also in Consideration of the sum of five Shillings Current money to him in hand paid by the said Evelyn Pierrepont the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged and himself therewith to be fully satisfied and paid Hath granted bargained sold released aliened enffeoffed and confirmed and by these presents Doth Grant bargain sell release alien enfeoff and confirm unto the said Evelyn Pierrepont his Heirs and Assigns all these (Tracts) |
