       Voluntarily and graciously absolve him from all further Servitude & declare and proclaim him
       by these presents a Freeman and Free dealer  And to render his right of Freedom and Citizenship
       full and compleat and to invest him with the Qualification of Suffrage I have condescended to give
       Grant and Assign transfer and make over unto him the said James Taylor his heirs & Assigns
       fifty acres of Land Part of a Larger tract with its Rights Members and Appurtenances known and
       Called by the name of the Adventure the af.d Part thereof given and alloted to him lying and being situate
       on the west side of Severn Run and contiguous and adjoining Charles Griffiths part of a Tract
       of Land called Partnership Begining for the Metes and Bounds of Said Parcel of Land given by me
       and allotted him as af.d at

       South Twenty Degrees East 20 P.s   South Eighty Degrees west Twenty Six P.s South ten Degrees
       East thirty two P.s South Twenty Degrees East Forty Eight P.s North Eighty five Degrees west Twenty Six
       P.s North Sixty Degrees west fifty Seven P.s North Twenty Degrees west Twenty Eight P.s North forty
       two Degrees East Ninety four Perches

       To have and to hold the said parcel of Land unto him the said James Taylor to and for his proper
       use and Behoof and for none other whatsoever  And the more effectually to engage the s.d Ja.s
       Taylor to continue in my family and to render us every service and Assistance in his Power by
       taking the Direction and Management of my negro slaves and supervising as an Overseer at my
       Different Plantations and lending his Aid to all necessary work to be done at them and
       carefully attending to and doing his Best Endeavours to presurve and encrease my stock of all
       kinds at them  I have freely and Counteously consented and agreed and do hereby for myself
       Family and Children consent and agree to make and render unto s.d James as a further compensation
       for all his good acts done and hereafter to be done and performed by him in my family
       af.d in manner and Form as af.d an annual Salary of not less than                  Pounds and
       moreover to provide him suitable Board and lodging such as a trusty industrious and good Overseer
       Ought to have & receive  And the said James in Consideration of the Premisses and the Terms
       above specified and assented and agreed to by him doth hereby covenant and contract to and with
       his Patron and Benefactor John Hammond af.d to abide & tary with him & his family af.d
       until the youngest of his Children shall attain the age of Twenty one years or be married and to
       render all and singular the services and assistances which are in his proper and carefully to superintend
       his negroes and Plantations and to take all possible Care of the Stock of every kind at them  And
       further more to lend his hand and Aid to all necessary work & Business required of him and to comply
       with all and singular the above engagements Entered into by him and to observe follow and
       perform all orders Directions & instructions given him by his Patron and Employer af.d or other
       Person in his family authorised to command and direct  And lastly it is consented covenanted and
       agreed to by and between the parties af.d and the s.d James doth hereby consent covenant and agree
       that upon his breach or Non Compliance with all or any of his Ingagments herein above mentioned
       and particularised a Forfeiture of his Salary af.d shall commence and insue as also of the Land
       herein above given him and that it shall be lawfull for the said John Hammond his Children
       &c (in Case of his Decease) ^to^ reenter and reseise to his and their proper use and Behoof the Tract
       of Land and premisses af.d any thing in this present Instrument of writing contained to the
       contrary hereof notwithstanding  In Witness whereof the s.d John Hammond hath set his
       hand and seal and the said James Taylor his mark & Seal this Eight Day of Jan.r
