188 acres of land unto the said George Whips and his heirs in manner & form aforesaid conveyd against him the said Samuel Whips his heirs & against all & every other person or persons whatsoever lawfully claiming by from or under him the said Sam.l Whips and his heirs shall & will for ever warrant & defend by these presents and the said Samuel further covenants to & with the said George Whips that the said Samuel Whips and his heirs shall & will at the reasonable request & at the cost & charge of the said George Whips or his heirs further do or suffer to be done any other lawful act or acts thing or things device or devices for the better surety & more sure making of the land & premises unto the said George Whips his heirs or assigns as by the said George Whips his heirs or assigns or his or their Council learned in the law shall be reasonably devised advised or requested In witness whereof the party first above mentioned hath hereunto set his hand & affixed his seal the day and year first above written Samuel Whips (LS) Signed Sealed & delivered in the presence of A C Hanson On the back of the aforegoing Deed were the following Endorsements to wit Received of George Whips the sum of five shillings being the consideration money mentioned in the within Indenture Test Samuel Whips A C Hanson Maryland March 11.th 1784 Then came before the Subscriber one of the Judges of the General Court Samuel Whips & acknowledged the within Indenture to be his Act & deed & the land & premises within mentioned to be the right and Estate of the within named George Whips his heirs and Assigns for ever A C Hanson Recorded 11.th March 1784 Ex.d This Indenture made this twenty fourth day of December in the year of our lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty three Between Clement Holliday and Nathaniel Ramsey Commissioners appointed to preserve confiscated British property of the one part & Henry Gassaway of Anne Arundel County of the other part Whereas the aforesaid Commissioners by an Act entitled an Act for the Sale of certain confiscated British property pledged for the redemption of Certificates and an Act entitled an act to postpone the Sale of certain confiscated British property for the redemption of Certificates were directed to lay off my Ladys Manor in Baltimore & Baltimore and Harford Counties in convenient Lotts and the same to sell at publick Sale and the said Commissioners did by virtue and in pursuance of the said Acts and in Conformity to the directions thereof sell the same on the twenty second day of October in the year last past at which said sale the aforesaid Henry Gassaway became the purchaser of Lot number seventy two part of the said Manor he being the highest bidder therefor at and for the sum of thirty nine pounds Specie Now this Indenture witnesseth that the aforesaid Clement Hollyday and Nathaniel Ramsey for and in consideration of the Sum of thirty nine pounds in Certificates aforesaid to them in hand paid by the said Henry Gassaway have granted bargained sold aliened released and confirmed and by these presents do grant bargain sell alien release & confirm unto the aforesaid Henry Gassaway the aforesaid Lot of Ground number |
