168 At the request of Daniel Cheston the following Statute of Bankrupt was Recorded Ex.d & dld Char to J.s Cheston AA Coty To all whom these Presents shall come I James Hughes Notary and Tabellion public by royal Authority duly admitted residing and practising in the City of Bristol in the kingdom of Great Britain Do hereby certify and make known that I the said notary did on the Day of the Date hereof carefully compare and examine the two special Paper writings hereunto annexed marked respectively with the Letters A and B the Paper writing marked with the Letter A purporting to be a true Copy of a Petition of Daniel Cheston of the City of Bristol Gentlemane preferred to the Right Honourable Henry Earl Bathwest late Lord High Chancellor of Great Britain praying that a Commission of Bankrupt might issue against William Stevenson of the City of Bristol late partner with William Randolph of the same City and James Cheston of the Province of Maryland in America Merchant for the purposes therein expressed and the paper Writing marked with the Letter B purporting to be a true Copy of a Commission of Bankrupt which issued under the Great seal of Great Britain in pursuance of such Petition And I do further certify that the said annexed Paper Writings are true and exact Copies of the said Original Petition and Commission And that the said William Stevenson was afterwards to wit on or about the third day of February In the year of Our Lord One thousand seven hundred and seventy seven by Rowles Scudamore Esquire and Nathan Windey and Henry Bengough Gentleman being the Major Part of the Commissioners in and by the said Commission named and authorized upon good Proof upon Oath found and duly declared a Bankrupt and that the Estate and Effects of the said William Stevenson were afterwards by the said Commissioners upon a Choice of the Creditors of the ^said^ Bankrupt assigned and made over unto the said Daniel Cheston In trust for for the Benefit of himself and such Other Creditors of the said Bankrupt In Testimony whereof I the said notary have hereunto set my hand and Seal Notarial this sixteenth Day of July In the year of Our Lord One Thousand seven hundred and Eighty three (Seal) James Hughes Not.y Publick (A) To the Right Honourable Henry Earl Bathurst Lord High Chancellor of Great Britain In all humble manner complaining sheweth unto your Lordship your Orator Daniel Cheston of the City of Bristol Gentleman as well for himself as for all other the Creditors of William Stevenson of the City of Bristol late Partner with William Randolph of of the same City and James Cheston of the Province of Maryland in America Merchant That whereas the said William Stevenson using and exercising the trade of Merchandize by way of Bargaining Exchange Bartering and Churance suking his trade of living by buying and siting upon just and good Causes for Wares and Merchandizes to him sold and dilivered and also for ready Money to him lent being indebted unto your Orator in the Sum of ^One^ hundred Pounds or upwards of late (that is to say) About |
