721 Received from the Hon.ble Richard Lee Esq.r the Sum of one Penny Sterling being the Alienation Fine due on the within Land to the Lord Proprietary by Virtue of a Commission from Dan.l of S.t Tho.s Jenifer Esq.r his said Lordships Agent and Received General J Brice Recorded 9.th September 1774 B To all to Whom these Presents shall come Henry Holland of half Moon Street in the County of Middlesex Builder and William Powell and Cordall Powell of Piccadilly in the said County Iorn Mongers and Copartners send Greeting Whereas by Indenture date the first day of this Instant July made between William Perkins Thomas Buchanan and William Brown of London Merchants and Copartners of the One Part and the said Henry Holland William Powell and Cordall Powell of the other part reciting that the said Henry Holland did on or about the Ninth day of March last become Bound for the said William Perkins Thomas Buchanan and William Brown to his Majesty for the payment of Eighty four pounds on the eighteenth of February One Thousand Seven Hundred and Seventy four and for the payment of the further Sum of Six Thousand One Hundred and Twenty pounds four Shillings and four pence on the Second day of July One Thousand Seven Hundred and Seventy four and for the payment of the further Sum of Eight Hundred and forty pounds And on the eleventh day of July the said Henry Holland did become Jointly and Severally Bound with Andrew Barlow to his said Majesty for the payment of the further Sum of four Thousand pounds or thereabouts on the Seventh Day of November One Thousand Seven Hundred and Seventy four making together the Sum of Eleven Thousand pounds and upwards being the amount of certain Duties payable on Tobacco's Imported by the said William Perkins Thomas Buchanan and William Brown in the Ships or Vessells called The Two Sisters the Lord Baltimore and the Industry from Virginia And that the said William Cordall Powell did on or about the Seventh day of January last at the request of the said William Perkins Thomas Buchanan and William Brown Indorse and deliver to them or one of them a Promisory Note drawn by ^them^ the said William Perkins Thomas Buchanan and William Brown Payable Seven Months after date to them the said William and Cordall Powell or order for two Thousand pounds which said Note they the said William and Cordall Powell Indorsed to accommodate and serve the said William Perkins Thomas Buchanan and William Brown without receiving any Value or Consideration for the same And reciting that there was then due and oweing from the Executor or Executors of the Estate and Effects of John Morton Jordan late of Virginia Esquire Deceased to them the said William Perkins Thomas Buchanan and William Brown upon the Ballance of Accounts the Sum of Sixteen Thousand Seven Hundred and Twenty five pounds Seven Shillings and Seven pence Settled on the Seventeenth of August last included Interest to that day but that some deduction must be made thereout for and on account of a certain Quantity of Land Sold or Expected to be then Bargained Sold and Assigned to them the said William Perkins Thomas Buchanan and William Brown to the Amount or Value of Four Thousand pounds or there abouts whereby a Ballance would then remain due and owing to the said William Perkins Thomas Buchanan and William Brown from the said Exor or Exors of Twelve Thousand Seven Hundred and Twenty five pounds Seven Shillings and Seven pence or thereabouts And that the said William Perkins Thomas Buchanan and William (Brown) |
