68 On the Back of the aforegoing Deed was thus Endorsed Viz.t Received the day of the within Written Indenture of the within named John Harrison the sum of Twenty Pounds Current Money being the Consideration Money within mentioned Lands &.ca Testes Charles Grahame By William Harrison Calvert County fs 30.th April 1770 Then came before us two of his Lordships Justices of the Peace for the County aforesaid the within named William Harrison and Acknowledged this Indenture to be his Act and Deed and the Lands therein mentioned to be the Right and Estate of the also within named John Harrison his Heirs and Assigns for ever according to the Act of Assembly in that Case made & Provided Charles Grahame John Hamilton Smith Calvert County fs.t In Testimony that Messieurs Charles Grahame and John Hamilton Smith Gent.m who have Signed their L S Names as Magistrates to the above Acknowledgment at the Time of their so doing were and are two of his Lordship the Right Honble the Lord Proprietarys Justices of the Peace for the County aforesaid Lawfully Assign.d & the Public Seal of the said County ^Court^ is hereunto Affix.d the 30.th day of April Anno Dom 1770 P Wheland Clk Com Cal Cur.t Reced of John Harrison the sum of Eleven Shillings Sterling Money for use of Lord Baltimore being the Alienation fine on the within Land by Virtue of a Commission from John Morton Jordan Esq.r his said Lordships Agent and Receiver General Jn.o Brice Recorded 20.th October 1770 9 Sides x.d This Indenture made the Thirtieth day of July in the Year of our Lord one Thousand seven Hundred and seventy Between Elizabeth Van Burkelo of Kent County in the Government of New Castle Kent and Sussex upon Delaware one of the Daughters of Herman Van Burkelo which said Herman Van Burkelo was the Eldest son and Heir at Law of Abel Van Burkelo and Catherine his Wife which said Catherine was one of the Daughters of Colonel Casparus Augustine Harman of Cecil County in the Province of Maryland Deceased and Sister to the late Col.o Ephraim Augustine Herman of Bohemia Manor in Cecil County and Province of Maryland Deceased of the one part and Joseph Ensor of Baltimore County in the Province of Maryland Gentleman of the other part Witnesseth that the said Elizabeth Van Burkelo for and in Consideration of the Sum of five Shillings Sterling Money to her in hand paid by the Joseph Ensor at or before the Sealing and Delivery of these Presents the receipt whereof she doth hereby acknowledge and thereof and therefrom doth hereby release acquit and Discharge the said Joseph Ensor his Heirs (Executors) |
