603) X.d This Indenture mad the first Day of September in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy three Between Peter Presly Thornton of the County of Northumberland Esquire of the one Part and the Honble John Taylor of the County of Richmond Esquire of the other Part Whereas the said John Taylor and the Honorable Presly Thornton late of the County of Northumberland Esquire deceased in his Life Time had engaged in Partnership in a certain Iron Work Called Occoquan Furnace and had made sundry Purchases of Lands, Slaves, Stocks & Utensills for carrying on the said Works to best Advantage And Whereas the said Presly Thornton by his last Will and Testament in Writing bearing Date the Day of In the Year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred and sixty three after several Specific Legacies devised the residue of his Estate to be equally divided between his two Sons the said Peter Presley Thornton Party to these Presents (the eldest Son & Heir at Law of the said Presly Thornton) and Presly Thornton the second Son by which Devise the said Peter Presly Thornton became intitled to one fourth Part of all the said Partnership Estate purchased before the Date of the said Will & Whereas sundry Lands were purchased by the said John Taylor and Presly Thornton for the Use of the said Occoquan Works since the Date of the Will aforsaid to one half of which Lands the said Peter Presly Thornton has a right as Heir at Law to his said Father Now this Indenture Witnesseth That the said Peter Presly Thornton for and in Consideration of the Sum of three thousand four hundred and thirty three Pounds fifteen Shillings and nine Pence to the said Peter in Hand paid by the said John Taylor the receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge and thereof doth acquit exonerate and discharge the said John taylor his Executors and Administrators by these Presents Hath given granted bargained sold aliened and confirmed and by these Presents Doth give grant bargain, sell, alien and confirm unto the said John Taylor his Heirs and Assigns One undivided fourth Part of a Tract or Parcell of Land in the Province of Maryland purchased of a certain Laurence Hammond in the Year one thousand seven hundred and sixty one lying and being in ^the County of^ Annarundell in the said Province and bounded as follows Beginning at a Locust Post fixed in or upon the sixty nine & a quarter Degree west Line of a Tract of Land called Harborough and about a Perch Distant from the Main Road and on the west Side thereof that leads from Hammonds Ferry to Annapolis and running with the said road South 29 Deg East 22 Poles South 7 Deg East 64 Poles South 25 Deg East 10 Poles South 19 Deg East 33 Poles Untill it intersects the East Line of the said Tra^c^t of Land called Yates Inheritance thence bounding on and running with the said Line to a Branch called Callaways Branch thence running with and ^binding^ bounding on the said Branch untill it intersects the Line of the aforesaid Tract of Land called Harborough thence running with and binding on the said Line of Harborough to the Beginning containing sixty Acres be the same more or less Also one undivided Moiety of the following |
