579) Year first above written Signed Sealed & Delivered Ph Hammond (LS) in the Presence of H Ridgely John Burgess Jun.r On the Back of the foregoing Deed was thus endorsed Viz.t Dec.r 1.st 1773 Then Received of the within mentioned James Grimes the Sum of Seventy six Pounds five Shillings Current Money being the Consideration within expressed H Ridgely Ph Hammond John Burgess 1773 Dec.r 1.st Then came before us the Subscribers two Justices of Ann.l County Court the within named Philip Hammond and acknowledged the within Indenture to be his Act & Deed and the Land and Premisses within mentioned to be the Right & Estate of the within named James Grimes his Heirs and Assigns for ever According to the true Intent & Meaning of the within Deed And the Act of Assembly in such Cases made and provided H Ridgely 7½ Sides John Burgess Jun.r Rec.d of M.r James Grimes the Sum of four Shillings and six Pence Sterling being the Alienation Fine due on the within Land to the Lord Proprietor by dd Virtue of a Commission from Dan.l of S.t Tho.s Jenifer Esq.r his said Lordships Agent & Receiver general (J Brice) Recorded the 18.th December 1773 Ex.d This Indenture made this first Day of December Anno Domini Seventeen Hundred and Seventy Three Between Philip Hammond of Ann.l County Gentleman of the One Part and Green Spurriers Planter of the other Part Witnesseth that he the said Philip Hammond for and In Consideration of the Sum of Seventy six Pounds five Shillings Current Money to him in Hand paid by the said Green Spurriers at and before the ensealing and Delivery of these Presents the Receipt of which he the said Philip Hammond doth hereby acknowledge and thereof and therefrom every Part and Parcel thereof doth freely fully and absolutely Exonerate acquit and Discharge the said Green Spurrier his Heirs Executors and Administrators and every of them by these Presents hath bargained soled alio^e^ned enfeoffed and Confirmed and by these Presents doth fully clearly and absolutely bargain sell Alien enfeoff and confirm unto him the said Green Spurrier One Hundred & twelve and a quarter Acres of land Being Part of a Tract of Land called the Valley of Strife lying and being In Baltimore County Beginning at Four Bounded White Oaks being the Beginning |
