458 Anne Arundel County to wit be it remembered that the within Named Dawson Stevens and Ruth his wife came before me one of his Lordship the Right Honourable the Lord Proprietarys provincial Magistrates for the province of Maryland and acknowledged the within Deed to be their Act and the Land and premises thereby bargained and sold with the appurtenances to be the Estate of the within Named Edward Dorsey for the Uses and purposes therein mentioned and the ^said^ Ruth wife to the said Dawson Stevens being by me examined privately out of the hearing of her Husband declared that she made the above acknowledgement willingly and freely and without being induced thereto by force or Threats of ill usage by her Husband or fear of his displeasure Taken and Certified according to Act of Assembly the day and year first within written Dan of S.t Tho.s Jenifer 10 sides Recorded the 20.th of April 1773 x.d Maryland to wit Whereas Samuel Dickinson of Talbot County Gent hath on the 2.d Day of January Anno Domini One thousand Seven hundred and seventy three been security for me to William Hayward Esq.r in the sum of one hundred and sixty three pounds five shillings and ten pence sterling Money of Great Britain Now Know Ye that I the Subscriber for and in Consideration above and in order to indem^n^ify the said Samuel Dickinson have Granted assigned and set over to the said Samuel Dickinson and his Heirs and Assigns for ever the following slaves to wit One Negro Man named Morris one Negro Boy named ben one Negro Boy named Will one Negro Boy named Same one Negro Boy named Perry and one Negro woman named Rachel to have and to hold the said Negroes unto the above named Samuel Dickinson and his Heirs and Assigns for ever provided the said Nicholas ^Thomas^ shall not indemnify the said Samuel for being security as afd In Witness whereof I have here^un^to set my Hand and Seal the day and year afd Sealed and delivered Nic Thomas (seal) In presence of On the Back of the aforegoing Deed was thus Endorsed (Viz.t) April 21.st 1773 Then Came the above named Nicholas Thomas before me the subscriber one of his Lordships Justices of the provincial Court and did acknowledge the within Deed and the slaves therein mentioned unto the said Samuel Dickinson and his Heirs and assigns for ever according to the form and Effect of the same Deed I witness whereof I have hereunto set my Hand the day and year afd 2¾ Sides W.m Hayward Recorded the 21.st of April 1773 X This Indenture made the twenty ninth Day of March in the Year of our Lord one Thousand seven hundred and seventy three Between Thomas Jenings of Anne Arundel County of the one part and Richard Beard of the same County of the other part Witnesseth that it is covenanted concluded and agreed between the parties to these presents that it shall and may be lawful for the said Thomas Jenings before the first day of the next provincial Court to prosecute out of the high Court of Chancery one or more writ or writs of Entry sur Deseisin en le post against the said Richard Beard returnable to the next provincial Court whereby the said Thomas Jenings shall and may demand against the said |
