725 Be it Remembered that on the 29.th day of March in the Year seventeen hundred and seventy the within James Broadaway personally appeared before us the Subscribers two of his Lordships Justices of the Peace for Queen Anns County in Maryland where the said James Broadaway resides and Acknowledged the within Deed to be his Act and Deed and the land and Premises therein Contained to be the only ^Right^ property and Estate of the within Thomas Ringgold and his Heirs and Assigns according to the form Force and Effect True Intent and Meaning of the same Deed for Testimony whereof we have hereunto set our hands the Day and Year above written Chris.r Cross Routh Rich.d Mason Maryland Queen Anns County to wit I hereby Certify that Christopher Cross Routh and Richard Mason Gent before whom the within Deed is Certified to have been Acknowledged at the Time thereof were and now are Justices of the Peace for the County of Queen Anns duly Commissioned and sworn and that due Faith is and may be given to all Acknowledgments by L S them so taken and Certified In Testimony whereof I have hereto set my hand and seal of office the 30.th Day of March 1770 R.d Tilghman Clk Received of Thomas Ringgold Esq.r the sum of Nine Shillings and three pence Sterling for the use of Lord Baltimore it being the Alienation Fine on the within Land by Virtue of a Commission from John Morton Jordan Esq.r his said Lordships Agent & Receiver General Jn.o Brice Recorded 20.th April 1770 8½ Sides X.d This Indenture made the first day of April in the Year of our Lord one Thousand seven hundred and seventy Between Benjamin Mackall 4.th of the City of Annapolis of the first part Basil Burgess of Anne Arundel County of the second part and Basil Magruder of Prince Georges County of the other Part Witnesseth that the said Basil Burgess for the Barring all Estates tail and Remainders over of and in the Lands Tenements and Premises herein after mentioned and for and in Consideration of the sum of Two hundred and fifty Pounds Sterling to him in hand paid by the said Basil Magruder at or before the Ensealing and Delivery of these Presents the receipt whereof he the said Basil Burgess doth hereby acknowledge and thereof doth Acquit and Discharge the said Basil Magruder by these Presents Hath granted bargained and Sold and by these Presents Doth grant bargain and sell unto the said Basil Magruder his Heirs and Assigns All that parcel of Land Comprized within the Courses Limits and Distances following (being part of a Tract of Land called Westphalia lying in Prince Georges County) Beginning at a bounded Sycamore Tree Standing over the Western Branch of Patuxent River being the beginning tree of the said Tract of Land called Westphalia and running west one Degree forty five Minutes Southerly with the Corrected Line of the said Tract called Westphalia one Hundred and Eighty Perches then North Eight degrees West Sixty eight Perches to a Persimmon Stake then North Sixty six degrees East one hundred and fifty one Perches to a (marked) |
