(545) received on the Day and year first within written of and from the within Moses Massey the Sum of ten shillings sterling being the Consideration Money within Mentioned to be by him Paid me Test Richard Thompson her Francis X Spry mark On the 18.th Day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand Seven hundred and Sixty nine came before me the subscriber one of his Lordships Justices of the provincial Court the within mentioned Francis Spry Moses Massey and James Tilghman the third and severally acknowledged the within Instrument of Writing to be their respective Act and Deed to and for the Uses Intents and Purposes within mentioned and the Lands and premisses therein mentioned and every part and parcell thereof to be the right and Estate of the said Moses Massey his Heirs and Assigns forever according to the true intent and meaning of the same Deed and the Act of Assembly in such Case made and provided Geo Steuart Recorded the 18.th Day of May 1769 Ex.d This Indenture made this twentieth Day of April in the Year Seventeen hundred and sixty nine Between John Black and Susannah his Wife of Saint Marys County of the one Part sides and Ann Chesley of the same County Widow of hte Other Part Witnesseth that the said John Black and Susannah his Wife for and in Consideration of the sum of five Shillings Sterling Money to them in hand paid by the said Ann Chesley the receipt whereof the said John Black and Susannah his Wife do hereby acknowledge and therefrom acquit and discharge the said Ann Chesley her heirs Executors and Administrators by these presents have and each of them hath bargained sold and surrendered and by these presents do and each of them Doth bargain Sell and surrender unto the said Ann Chesley and her heirs one undivided fifth Part of all that Plantation and all those Several Tracts or parcels of Land lying and being in Saint Marys County aforesaid and premisses with the Appurtenances which were heretofore devised by George Clarke Deceased to the aforesaid Susannah during her Natural Life and to one undivided fifth part of the same Lands and premises with the Appurtenances To have and to hold one undivided fifth Part of the said Lands and Premises with the proper use & Behoofe In Witness whereof the Partys to these presents have hereunto set their Hands and affixed their Seals the Day and year before written Signed Sealed & Delivered John Black (seal) in the Presence of Susanna Black (seal) Rich.d Brown Will Killgour On the back of the aforegoing Deed was thus Indorsed to wit Received of Ann Chesley five shillings sterling Money it being full Payment of the within Mentioned Consideration John Black Witness Rich.d Brown Will Kilgour Susannah Black Recorded the 18.th Day of May 1769 Ex.d D Know all Men by these Presents that we Samuel Peach Isaac Elton the Youngor James Hill William Stevenson and William James all of the City of Bristol Merchants Assignees legally Chosen as well of the Joint as of the respective Several Estates and Effects of Samuel Sedgley William Hillhouse and William Randolph of the City of Bristol Merchants and partners under and by Virtue of a ^Joint^ Commission of Bankrupt which hath been lately Awarded and Issued forth against them Have and each and every of either of us Hath made ordained constituted authorized and appointed and by these presents do and each and every and either of us Doth make Ordain Constitute Authorize and appoint James Cheston of the Colony of Maryland in America Merchant to be our and each and Every and either of our true and Lawfull Attorney for us and Each and Every and Either of us and in our and each and every and either of our Names or Name and to and for our Use as Assignees as aforesaid to Ask Demand Sue for Collect Gather in recover (and) |
