198 these Presents have hereunto interchangeably set their Hands and affixed their seals the Day and year first above written Signed Sealed and Delivered Thomas Rutland Jun.r (seal) in the Presence of Beall Bordley, Zach Hood Na Hammond J (Seal) On the Back of the aforegoing Deed was thus Written viz.t Received on the day and year first within written of and from the within named Nathan Hammond the sum of seven hundred and twenty pounds current money being the consideration within mentioned to be by him paid to me Witness I say reced by Me Beale Bordley, Zach Hood Thomas Rutland Jun.r On the Eighteenth Day of April Seventeen hundred and sixty seven the within named Thomas Rutland Junior personally appeared before me the Subscriber one of his Lordships Justices of the Provincial Court and did Acknowledge the within Instruement of writing to be his Act and Deed and the tract of Land and Premisses with the appurtenances and every Part and Parcell thereof to be the Right Property and Estate of the within named Nathan Hammond his heirs and Assigns for ever according to the true Intent and Meaning of the same Writing And at the Same time also came before me the Subscriber Margrett the wife of the same Thomas Rutland Junior and did acknowledge that she freely relinquished her Right of Dower to the Tract of Land within mentioned and fully consented to the within Instrumement of writing and She being examined by me privately out of the hearing of her said Husband and did declare that she made her said acknowledgement willingly and freely and without being induced thereto by fears or threats of or ill usage from her said Husband or through fear of his Displeasure Before Jn.o Beale Bordley 1767 April 20.th Received of M.r Nathan Hammond the sum of five Pounds and Eleven Shillings sterling for the use of Lord Baltimore being the alienation fine on the within Land and by virtue of a commission from Edward Lloyd Esq.r his said Lordships Agent and receiver General John Brice Recorded the 26.th day of April 1767 Exam.d This Indenture Made the Twentyeth Day of May in the year of our Lord Seventeen hundred and sixty seven Between Thomas Snowden Samuel Snowden late of Ann Arundel County Iron Master deceased of the one part and Joseph Cowman and John Thomas of the other part Witnesseth that the said Thomas Snowden Samuel Snowden and John Snowden for and in consideration of the Sum of five Shillings to each of them in Hand paid by the said Joseph Cowman and John Thomas at and before the Sealing and Delivery of these presents the receipt whereof they doth hereby severally acknowledge and of and from every part thereof do hereby acquit exonerate and discharge the said Joseph Cowman and John Thomas by these (Presents) |
