(152) January 31.st 1766 Then Benjamin Tasker Esq.r the party above named Acknowledged before me the Subscriber one of his Lordships Justices of the Provincial Court that he had received of John Hammond the Party named in the above Instrument of writing the Sum of One hundred and fifty Pounds Sterling as therein (and above) Expressed for the use of his Grandson Benjamin Ogle and that the said Instrument of writing was his proper Receipt and that he Subscribed and Declared the same as Such in the presence of the Attestator thereto pursuant to the Directions of the private Act of Assembly herein (above) as in the preceding Receipt referred to Geo Steuart Memorandum December 23.d 1765 I do hereby Acknowledge to have received of John Hammond to and for the use and Benefit of my Grandson Benjamin Ogle (being at present a Minor) the Just Sum of One Hundred and fifty Pounds Sterling the Same being the full Consideration or Purchase Monies for Two Tracts of Land lying on Severn Viz Hickory Ridge and Greenland Each Engaged by me to said John Hammond and his heirs and which late were the Estate and Property of my Grandson aforesaid and whose Right and Title of in and to the same and Each of them with Every of their appurtenances were on application in his Behalf to the General Assembly reciting my Engagement aforesaid of the same to said John Hammond and for the Sum aforesaid being one hundred and fifty Pounds Sterling and hereby Acknowledged to be rec.d as aforesaid Transferred to and vested in the said John Hammond his heirs and Assigns for Ever to and for his and Their sole and proper use and behoof by and in virtue of a private Act of Assembly for such and other purposes therein mentioned passed at November session; one Thousand seven hundred and Sixty five Benj.n Tasker Test Reverdy Ghiselin, Rob.t Couden 2 sides Recorded 4.th November 1766 N B The receipt should have been recorded before the Acknowledgement as by the date doth appear Examined Maryland fs.t Know all Men by these presents that I John Wootton of Prince Georges County have made Ordained Constituted and appointed and by these presents do make Ordain Constitute and appoint Richard Wootton of the City of Annapolis my True and Lawfull Attorney for me and in my Name and to my use and Behoof to ask Demand sue for recover and Receive of all person or persons whatsoever all such sum or sums of money which now is or may hereafter be due and owing unto me the said John (Wootton) |
