(s)  To all Persons to whom these presents shall come
Duty paid  Greeting    Know Ye that I Richard Pearis of Frederick County
Exam.^d     in the Colony of Virginia Gent.^l have made ordained constituted
        and appointed and by these presents Do make ordain
        constitute and appoint and in my place and stead put and
        Depute my Trusty and well beloved Friend Steven West
        of Prince George County in the Province of Maryland Merchant
        my true and lawful attorney for me and in my Name to ask Demand
        Sue for Levy Recover and Receive of and from all and all Manner
        of Persons whatsoever within the province of Maryland all sum
        or sums of Money Debts Duties Claims and Demands which
        now are or hereafter may become due to me as well on account
        of my pay as Captain of a Company in his Majesty's service
        raised by the said Province as otherwise in any Manner whatsoever
        and upon receipt thereof or of any part thereof I do
        hereby Impower and Authorize the said Stephen West
        Acquittances on other sufficient disharges to make and give for
        the same or for any part thereof either in my Name or in his
        own name as my attorney ^and for the purposes afd one or more attorney or attorneys^ under him to make and substitute
        and them at his Direction to Revoke and generally to do make
        or give all such other act or acts thing or things for the
        Recovering and securing the same as if I my self were personally
        present hereby Ratifying and Confirming all
        whatsoever my said attorney shall lawfully of Reasonably
        do in the premises  In Witness whereof I have hereunto
        sett my hand and seal this 17.^th day of July 1762
