       God to take out of this world ^by death^ Thomas Laurence Baronett
       her Majesties late secretary and Publick Notary of this province
       Whereby the said Place and office is become Vacant and there
       being an absolute Necessity of some person to execute officiate
       and performe that office and Trust thereof pursuant
       to the s.d Powers and Authoritys I haveing and reposeing great
       Trust and Confidence in the Loyalty Fidelity Knowledge &
       Ability of you Philemon Lloyd Esq.r have thought fit &
       do hereby Appoint Authorise and Empower you the said
       Philemon Lloyd to take into your Custody the Records
       of the Province and to execute officiate performe and Discharge
       the said office and Trust of Her Majesties secretary &
       Publick Notary within the same and to authorize and
       depute I fit and Capable Persons Clerks under you in the
       severall Countys within this province and Fees proffitts
       and regards to the said office belonging or which of right
       ought thereto to to belong or appertaine to your owne use
       to take & receive and Generally in all things relating
       to the said place of secretary and Publick Notary afd
       to Act doe and performe as to the secretary of this province
       has been usuall untill such Tyme as Her Majesties
       Royall Pleasure shall be further known you
       by me Legally Discharged thereof Given under my
       hand and seale and dated at the City of Ann Apolis
       in Ann Arundell County this 7.th day of Septemb in the
       13.th year of the Reigne of our sov.ring Lady Anne by
