144 and hereto annexed are of the proper hand writeing of the said M.r John Nicholson and Michael Atkinson and the said Dep.o William Peirson maketh oath that he the said Dep.t has for Thirty ^five^ yeares and upwards last been well acquainted with the Families of the Carters in the said Register book menconed and Lived in the family many yeares & has heard much Talke of Thomas Carter the father but did not know him nor y.e s.d Alice his daughter and saith he very well knew Christopher John William Mary Anne Thomas & Richard sons & Daughters of the said Thomas the father that Christopher and John dyed many yeares before March Last without Issue that W.m Elder Brother to Richard also dyed many yeares before March Last and had Issue Anne Thomas Christopher Mary & Sarah that the said Thomas and Christopher dyed many yeares before March last without Issue that Anne is now Married to Samuel Cockayne of Gilling in the County of York af.d and Kingdom afd Gentl both now Liveing that Mary is now Married to Christopher Teasdale of newcastle in the Kingdom afd merchant both now Liveing that Sarah dyed some yeares before Richard her Uncle but was Married to Nathaniel Hargrave of newcastle afd & the Kingdom afd Gentl now Liveing & Left Issue James & Mary now Liveing That Thomas Carter brother to the said Richard Carter late Citizen & Alderman of the Citty of York in the Kingdom afd dyed aboute Twenty yeares ago and Left Issue Eliz.a Frances and Mary all now Liveing that Eliz.a is Married to W.m Tankred of Arden in the s.d County of York & Kingdom afd Esq.r both now Liveing that Frances is now married to Rich.d Colvile of the Juner Temple London in the Kingdom afd Esq.r both now Liveing That Mary is now Liveing sole and unmarried in London afd And the s.d depon.t W.m Peirson saith that the s.d Rich.d Carter about thirty two yeares ago Came from Maryland beyond seas as the said Rich.d told this depon.t to Kirkby sup wiske afd where Christop.h Carter his eldest brother Lived & stayed some Time there & would Gladly have had this deponant W.m Peirson To have gone into Maryland with him the said Richard Carter when he went from Kirkby sup wiske afd who as this deponant is Informed dyed about the month of March Last and this depon.t W.m Peirson saith that Mary Carter sister to the afd Rich.d (Carter) |
