       Patuxent District within the province of maryland To
       William Taylard of the port of Annapolis in Ann
       Arundell County Gent Greeting

(seale)   Whereas by the power and authority to me granted
       by the Right Hon.ble the Comiss.rs for manageing and
       Causeing to be leavyed and Colected his maj.tys Customs
       subsidies and other Duetys in his maj.tys Kindom of England
       to be Collect.r of the rates Dutyes and Imposicons ariseing
       and becomeing Due to his maj.ty at patuxent river in
       Maryland by virtue whereof power is given me to enter into
       any shipp Bottome boate or other vesell as alsoe in any
       Shopp House ware House Hostery or other place whatsoever
       to make Deligent serch into any trunk pack Case Chest
       Truss or any other percell or package whatsoever for
       any goods wares or marchandizes prohibited to be
       Imported or Exported or whereof the Customs or
       other Dutyes have not beene Duely payd and the same
       to size to his maj.tys use and alsoe to put to execucon
       all other the Lawfull powers and authoritys for the
       better manageing or Collecting the said Dutyes in all
       thinge proceeding as the law Directs and for that the
       port of Annapolis being a memb.r of the afores.d
       Distrect where I cannot Depute and Empower you
       the said William Taylard to be my Deputy in the port
       or member aforesaid to Officiate as any Deputy in the
       office of Colector there to and to act and doe therein
       according to instructions given or to be given him as If my
       selfe were parsonaly present prayeing and requesting
       all his maj.tys Loyall subjects to be aideing and assisting
       to the said William Taylard in the Execution of the
       said office Given at patuxent afores.d under my hand &
       seale the                     day of Aprill in y.e 12.th yeare of his
       maj.tys Reigne &c anno y.e Dm 1700
